Opinions Please...Bekah's Necklace

As you know, I fixed up her necklace and a crimp gave way. I shouldn't really put it that way...apparently, one crimp was not squished enough around one end of wire, and that end came out of the crimp. The crimp managed to stay on the main piece of wire, thus avoiding the dreaded seed beads across the floor deal.

I tried to just slide the loose end of wire back through the crimp and mash it just enough to hold. Not gonna happen. Crimp broke.

So now I'm at a loss. Should I try to restring it, and give it the tug test

*again* or something else? I do have a sterling chain that I can shorten and the pendant will sit nicely on. But then it wouldn't be pink and sparkly.

I thought of using Stretch Magic. Don't want to do that. I want it to be nice. Something she can hang on to for a long time. Who knows, when she hits her teenage years, she can take it apart and hang the pendant on a longer chain.

I'm also having a hard time remembering that it has to be short and light. She has her catheters in all the time, and even at 13", it was hitting the top of them.

So any of you with young ones around, or have made jewelry for kids, any ideas would be great. I want to try and have it fixed by Saturday. (bunny day!) Oh yeah, besides her tugging on it, it has to stand up to 2 babies tugging on it too.

TIA- Rachel

Can you knot and crimp?

I have never had a necklace knotted on silk break or come apart. As I recall, Bekah's necklace is seed beads and some larger beads. You can just do the knots around the larger beads and the three beads at each ends. If you're not accustomed to knotting, finishing the ends with bead tips is the easiest.
