OT...... and dream a little dream for/with me

This year has been just continuously hectic. Way too much going on and my head can't keep up.

In addition, my server only gives me about half the posts and I dislike Google. When I complained, they just told me they don't have very good news group service. I imagine it's because people who stay or work at home where they also use newsgroups are often marginalized people. So, what the hell. marginalize us more!!

Next week I'm going to Calif for my birthday, Thanksgiving, Mom's birthday -- and hey, Sooz's birthday too! I'm going to meet you this time Becki! No escaping it!

Last week we signed the contract for The Phase II SBIR grant ($725,000) for Walter's engine. And just as exciting, at the end of the month our NASA contact, Pete Meitner, is presenting our engine at the 25th Army Science Conference

(I have to admit, as a Pacifist I'm a little conflicted) Walter's engine is discussed on pages 3 to 7 of this document

Quotes:

The Bonner Engine is exceedingly compact and light weight. The many unique features of this engine are combined in a deceptively simple and highly integrated manner. The Bonner Engine's configuration makes possible a combination of features which, up to the present, could only be obtained by complex and heavy add-on devices. To duplicate the Bonner engine's capabilities with a conventional piston engine would require, at a minimum, a supercharger, a turbocharger, and a complex, mechanical, variable-valve actuation mechanism. In addition, no conventional piston engine has yet to feature a workable variable compression ratio scheme which is as simple as that of the Bonner Engine. ....................

Because the Bonner Engine uses conventional piston configurations, all knowledge in existing data bases can be utilized to optimize the burning characteristics (for heavy or gasoline fuel), thus minimizing engine emissions. Also, the unique, two stage compression process of the Bonner Engine allows for the best possible mixing of fuel and air. This generates a very even combustion event, and offers an excellent chance of achieving Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI), the holy grail of piston engine research.

Most important, the Bonner Engine is unmatched in its ability to operate at maximum efficiency over its entire RPM range, and in its ability to deliver constant power at any desired altitude. It is expected to be the most fuel efficient intermittent combustion engine ever conceived. The Bonner Engine will greatly reduce fuel consumption for power generation applications, and will allow both air and ground vehicles to achieve significantly increased range and/or payload.

Yeah, I'm jazzed! It will give us credibility and within 6 months I think we'll have industry chasing us down to buy (license to use) our technology. I think we will. I hope..

Dream a little dream with me.

That's great news about the engine, tina! I'm jealous about your trip, too. Enjoy it!

How wonderful that you dream is becoming reality. Well done for having the faith and lots of determination to come this far.

Have a great trip and birthday.

Thanks, Jan.

It's been a long, long haul. And I've been torn between thinking it'll make me rich and completely giving up. It's been 8 or 9 years now. We're lucky no one has tried to steal the technology. After all, a patent only helps you sue if someone infringes. Doesn't really stop anyone. And a company with lots of money for lawyers can appeal until the inventor goes broke. That's one reason why the government grant/involvement is good for this.

It's a funny thing about that trip. I've been so busy for so long, all I really want is to spend some time with Pete now. And he can't come down now.

There's going to be a lot of family stuff -- which is always good and bad. Mom has been staying up in the mountains for the last 6 months. Alone. No running water or electric or phone or public roads, or paved roads, or neighbors. And Mom is 82, and has no movement in her left arm/shoulder. Not good, not safe. Very head strong. Which often makes it an exercise to visit her. Mothers! My daughter has one too!

My daughter will come too. And my oldest sister will be doing Thanksgiving. Her last, because her husband has died and she'll be selling her house. I'll see the other sibs too. And my much loved DIL, who is no longer married to my son, has returned from her fist visit home to Ukraine since she moved to the US 6 years ago.

It will be hectic.

Added to that, I will see my best friend from school since 7th grade (45 years ago!), And a few beaders. Sooz, of course. And finally, Becki. I have made those arrangements yet. But I will!

I will be staying in Walnut Creek in a retirement community (my God, what a thought!), and have Mom's car or a rental. I'm tired already just thinking about it.
