Hi Deirdre. In the thread where we discussed music, you asked for a CD title for the music I mentioned (I read your query on google at work and had to look it up on the ABC website). This is what I heard on our local classical music station: Come Saviour Today - Slvyanka. This is music from the Russian Orthodox Church.
Ahhh! Then I know the kind of 'sound' it has. I dig those Russian basses, with their reverberating low notes... And liturgical music from that tradition makes the most of them...

On a slight tangent, I have a friend who has a *very* deep basso profundo singing voice. He occasionally sings a novelty song written for that kind of voice -- I don't remember much of it, but it's about the pleasures of singing "down, down, down, down to low C". Very cute when properly done!
