OT: forest fire vibes request

OK... this may seem like an odd thing to request, but the HUGE wildfire burning in the area has really gotten huger.... (if that's a word) today. The bandbcomplex.com website can give you details... but it's grown 20,000 ACRES just today when the two fires (arson) burned together. At our house in Madras, ash is falling, just the light little stuff, so danger to our house/property is still small... but still, ASH falling from the sky is just not right. We drove the newly reopened highway 20 on Monday and it was 30 MILES of scenes from hell.... instead of the usual beautiful green of Oregon's highways.

Anyway... Despite myself I am a little scared... and so sorry for those who have had to evacuate their homes for the second time since this fire began like two weeks ago... and those who couldn't get back to get out their pets when they were evacuated with only an hour's warning....

thanks.

Good vibes headed your way ... and to the people whose griefs you are tuned in to.

This sure would be a good time for some fire-quenching rain!

Thanks for all the vibes... although the fire is still only about 40% contained and burning like mad, we here in Madras are safe. Still a bit of doubt for those in Camp Sherman, however.... the fire is now burning mostly south-west, which is right into that area... it's already burned all around Hoodoo ski area... but they saved the buildings that house the lift machinery

The ash fell here hard and thickly enough that we left footprints going out of the house for dinner last evening. Today, an easterly breeze blew through stiffly enough to clear most of it away...

I'm off to Albany tomorrow for my honorary daughter's bridal shower.. you should hear how he proposed to her!!.... so I'll tell how it looks when i get back, since the route from here to there is down the highway that has been closed...

Oh, wow - are you near the Cascade Locks fire? I heard that it was getting very bad there, because hubby was in Mosier when they evacuated. Mosier is a teeny town near Hood River, about 50-60 miles east of Portland - his grandparents have a cherry orchard there. Ken was there canning tomatoes and heard about the fire. Thanks goodness his route home did not include going back into Portland, because they closed I-84 west for miles and miles between Troutdale (Portland suburb) all the way to Cascade Locks. Very very scary. I hope you are okay, Beth!!!

And a hard frost last night wiped out most of the garden. Well, that's one less distraction from beads.

I'm fine, sweetie... and near the B&B complex fire. IT's awful.

Were you able to get any leaves for PMC before the frost??

It was only the most "tender" leaves that froze. And last night we had cloud cover so it didn't frost again, so yes, I still have leaves. Time to get to work.

Oops. Hit that button again too soon.

I got some leaves in the frig to work on. I'm also on the look out now for some nicely dried and crinkle leaves to use. But they can wait.
