OT Hormone question

Two days ago, I cut my hormone replacement meds in half, hoping to eventually get off the damn things (it's been 12 years, since I was 37 and had the last bit of ovary removed). Under my Dr's supervision, of course.

Dang! I've had two migraines so far, and today I feel like I wish everyone I know would drop off the face of the earth and burst into flames before hitting the bottom. Just hateful, annoyed, and horrible. Did this happen to anyone else here? Or is it just ------ ME?

(P.S.: Of course, there are some people who deserve this fate, and I don't mean to blame my feelings about them on any Rx.) ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce

Sweetie, I totally understand. I use natural progesterone cream for that. It's the only thing I can safely use, and it works quite well for me.

Sooz, I think this is probably a common reaction. I know when I stopped birth control pills it took a few days for me to get back to feeling like myself. Cheer up, I often feel like that and I'm not on any hormones, lol. Wear some Carnelian, supposed to help with hormonal issues. Patti

It took my mom about a month to really get back into her normal groove after she stopped taking hers. I will ask her if she found anything to help with the symptoms of weaning off of them... sorry you are feeling bad!

I do like the "drop off the face of the earth and burst into flames before hitting the bottom" analogy though. I have a list of people for that myself... *evil grin*

Did you discuss your migraines with your doctor? Maybe 50% is too much for you?

My doc warned me to taper off VERY slowly--like over several months. I took

6 months to get down to 50%; encountered no problems. You can go back up to 80% and see if it helps.

When I came off mine at the beginning of this year I took it in stages. For two weeks I had 3/4 of a tablet, then two weeks of a 1/2. Then 2 more weeks of a 1/4 of a tablet. Then for two more weeks I took the 1/4 tablet on alternate days then stopped them altogether.

No real ill effects was felt. Shirley

I have not, and will not take the synthetics...

hope you get relief soon sweetie....

Now that I finally am possibly done with menopause, I have to say, the perimenopause is the killer stuff. Between about 47 and 54 (last year), I had a period every month. But that's when my symptoms were worse, and hardest to identify. I used a soy compound and Oil of Evening Primrose for relief. The thing that made it so bad for me was that the female hormones AND the rest of the hormones, especially endocrinal and thyroid went crazy. Those other hormone imbalances effected me worse than the female hormone stuff.

I could tell you it's just you...but it wouldn't be true. I got off mine a few months ago. Started taking the pill every other day, then every 3 days, then quit completely. No side effects at all. And I was on them about 10 years. I know that others have not been so lucky. There are natural things you can use, herbal stuff, to get you over the hump. I just don't know what they are....sorry...

I quit. I mean, I quit quitting....or cutting back. I have a lot of physical problems this time of year -- the cold starts (weather) and the pain ratchets way up, and I get depressed and afraid. (Who wouldn't?) So to hell with it -- I'll decrease my estrogen in the spring, when the warmth can assist me in the transition. Fall is too big a mountain to climb to begin with -- what was I thinking? Sheesh.

Someone pound some sense into me, preferably with big fat lampwork beads flying through the air and hitting me on the noggin (if my hands don't intercept them)..... ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce
