OT: I WON!!!!

I WON! I WON! I WON! Last night while I was going over my papers, I realized that the account number that Capital One was suing me over did NOT match the account number on the signatory page they submitted as evidence. Today the judge AND plaintiff's attorney agreed, and the case was dismissed. I WON! That CC Company has tormented me for years... and I WON!!!!!! just wanted to share with you... hugs, karleen

Congratulations! I hope they have to pay damages after all that.

That's great! Congratulations for sticking it to the credit card company! I'd love to do that to all mine!

Congratulations, Karleeen!! I'm so glad you got that thorn out of your side! Very happy for you!

Congrats Karleen! I went through that too and it's NO fun.

THAT has got to feel good!

Congrats Karleen, I'm sure it's a great weight lifted off your shoulders. Feels great I bet!

Congratulations! How long do you think you'll be up there on that cloud? LOL

Thanks for all the great wishes!!! I'm not suing for damages, I'm just glad to get those jerks off my back!!! Hugs to you all.

What the HECK???? Well - congratulations in any case! What was this - a case of stolen or confused identity?

For some reason Captiol One ads and their pushy style always turned me off to them -- they struck me as slightly "off kilter" credit card company. If they are THAT stupid - I am sure glad to never have had any business dealings with them!

No we were supposed to have Credit Guard protection insurance on that account and they screwed it up ... and I told them I didn't owe it, they were still trying to stick me with it, but got off on a technicality anyway.

Man oh man, that's awesome Kathleen! I don't know what it is about Capital One, but you hear so many horror stories about using it.

Well, they are dirty, rotten, greedy, lying, selfish and don't give a damn about the little guy they are bleeding for all they're worth... just like the other C/C companies.

What they don't tell you is this:

1) Merchants have to pay a monthy fee to ACCEPT credit/debit cards.

2) Merchants also pay a per item processing fee and/or a % of sales or BOTH for handling credit card transactions.

3) Merchants are also charged fees if the transaction isn't perfect according to the C/C companies.

RESULT: The cost of goods and services are higher for EVERYONE.

PLUS... here's the old DOUBLE DIP (and I ain't talking ice cream)...

1) Many C/C's charge annual or membership fees to US for using the cards,

2) If you only pay the minimum payment, you get charged those high interest fees;

AND if you are late....

3) LATE FEES

AND if you should go over limit

4) OVER LIMIT FEES

AND if you start being late and/or going over the limit, you get a HIGHER interest rate;

AND the courts usually favor them, so if you get sued by the C/C companies... well you can forget it.

See why I hate plastic?

"What do you have in YOUR wallet?" If it's Capital One, it's a viper that will bite you in the a$$!

SO YES I AM HAPPY I WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only found out about that a couple of years ago when I talked to a local potter out of curiosity...it seems so obvious now, and I felt pretty dumb!

Yup! Mine doesn't, but they get you because if you want the lower interest rate (about 12%) it's $20 a year or some such.

My CC seems to be good about that, I haven't seen that charge yet.

My CC company drives me crazy because there aren't overlimit fees. They just raise the amount of credit you can get! I had $10K worth of credit one time due to a bank mistake where they doubled the amount of my balance (how, I have no idea). I swear, I could have had a heart attack when my bill came. I had to phone them and demand that they lower the limit to something way more manageable and to stop raising it.

I should really go over my statements and see if I've been missing something!

Yup, plastic is bad, bad, bad. I hate to think it's a necessary evil though...I had to charge all my dental bills to it :-P

Best, Christine

Problem is ... we're a plastic society... I run C/C's almost everyday in my job... if we didn't accept them, we'd be out of business and I'd be out of a job! And it's not really safe to take checks anymore. Talk about your catch

22...

Sorry, but I have to play Devil's advocate here. A CC is an agreement we all enter into willingly. We know that we have to pay them for the service they offer. Why then, do we max the cards out, then cry about how awful our creditors are when we have to start paying them back? If you can't afford to pay them back, don't sign up for one. Simple as that.

It's weird, sometimes I feel I can't relate to money because it's not very phsyical anymore - my husbands laughs at me because I don't have a lot of things on automatic payment, but I like to write checks instead. It makes me feel I have phsyically transferred it (if that even makes sense though!). Even in this digital age, the amount of checks I use surprises me!

Best, Christine

yes, BUT...

They didn't live up to their end of the agreement... we purchased the disability insurance and they refused to honor it...

And... we signed up for this one online only to find that their Terms Of Service (TOS) agreement changed continually WITHOUT any notice to us and without us being able to opt out of the changes, which were detrimental to us...

And being burned, I will not have a C/C again.
