Very OT -- I never win anything, except ....

One of the radio stations here sponsors a weekly (usually) get-together called Wine Down Wednesday. They get a wine company to serve samples of wine, arrange for some nibblies so the public doesn't get too tipsy, and give away prizes.

Several weeks ago I won a prize. Now keep in mind that I almost never win anything, so I was very excited. :) Then I found out what I'd won, and I almost fainted! It was a free one-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton at Lake Las Vegas, a *very* nice hotel, and one that has now spoiled me forever for any other hotel -- not that I could ever afford to stay there if I were paying. DH and I were completely pampered for that one night, and we certainly enjoyed the lovely setting.

I figured my winning "streak" was at an end, given my past record. Nope. Last Wednesday I won again! This time it was two tickets to see the Nevada Ballet perform Gisèle, and DH and I attended that yesterday. Wow! I haven't been to a ballet performance in about 40 years (long before DH and I married), when DT and I went to see Nureyev and Fontaine dance Swan Lake. I have to say that DH was a good sport about it all, since he's not a ballet fan; but he was impressed by the athleticism necessary for this beautiful art form. I was impressed by everything.

Now I need to come back down to earth.

I wonder if the two DD's and MIL would like to go with me to see the Nutcracker in December? ;)

Well done, Sandy. What great prizes, too. I love Giselle - never watched it without crying! Oh, Nutcracker at Christmas would be magical. Pity DGD is a little small for it just yet >g<

I hope you go and persuade the other 'girls' to join you. . In message , Sandy writes

I have to admit that I did cry when Giselle died, Pat. But who cares? It's gorgeous!

As for the Nutcracker, one of the DDs has already answered that she wants to go; the other DD is out of town and will answer when she's back, I'm sure. I need to find out when MIL will be here for Christmas and whether she wants to go. Yes, I do wish our DGD were a bit older, but at 1.5 years old, she's a bit too young yet.

I must have done something good, Michelle -- to quote from The Sound of Music. I'm just thrilled!

I'm envious! I haven't been to the ballet in years.... and everyone loves to be pampered, if only for one night!

What a great idea, Roberta! I'll have to see if I can squeeze that into my busy week before leaving for Houston. Or maybe I'll save the third "thing" for Houston, where maybe I'd win something wonderful. ;)
