OT Marriage

The first marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. The second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience. The third marriage is the triumph of stupidity.

This is so true in my case.

Bead :::: I finally learned the basic brick stitch. Have been trying to learn it since November and last nite it all of a sudden clicked. Woo Hoo

I would not know about 2nd and 3rd marriages. I am still on my first and it will be 50 years in November. Congrats on mastering brick stitch. Shirley

Lol!! We'll hit 20 years in June, and I'm on #1. All I can say is that it was a lot of luck. I was probably too young and stupid to get married, but I married a better person than I am!

Thats the trick, marry someone better than you and make sure they do the same thing. My #3 is wonderful, most of the time, so when I get upset with him I ask myself if my life would be better with him or without him and the answer is alway with him. Diana

Well, number 2 is working out pretty good for me. Although we were only married last December, we've been together for 12 years. So far so good. Sometimes number 2 is the result of experience. Certainly the case for me. Don't become embittered. At the same time, don't push away the things that bother you, especially in the early, passionate days of a relationship.

I love it when a bead stitch finally falls into place. For me it was peyote. One day I couldn't. The next day I could!!

honestly, that's what i was hoping. and it's not that there weren't offers. but they were all "conservative Republicans" out to reform me. i attract the WRONG kind of men. this one just hid it better.

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a man that's out to change me! As my father says, "What you see is what you get". My ex BECAME Episcopalia after we got married, and spent the rest of our time together trying to convert me.

I am not a convertible. Nothing against Episcopalians, I think it's a lovely church, as churches go, and they seem to foster tolerance and peace, which is wonderful.

*That* is what I like in a man, or a pertner in general... that feeling that they genuinely respect and think highly of you. Without that respect, there is no relationship!

well, i'm mostly a liberal libertarian. but i'm also a "60's flower child". i also used to be mostly "independent, self-reliant, and responsible".

for some reason, that seems to attract: - men who want someone to take care of them - including supporting them. - men who are "right-wing conservatives" who want to show me the error of my ways - totally irresponsible jerks.

enough. i'm done. i did my job. i raised the children i gave birth to and got them started on their own paths. who needs men? the hard part is done.
