Well, my first project of the year has now been set before me. Last week I found out a co-worker has inflammatory breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes and bones. She was heading in today to get a PET scan to see exactly where they will have to target. Her first chemo session is in two days. This was a sudden thing as far as the diagnosis, but she hadn't been feeling well for a while and they couldn't/didn't but the symtoms together. Joanne has been the gal who kept me current on getting files and cases to me, looking for missing documents, etc, and being an all-around good sport when I would call from the courtroom, in session, frantically requesting a file.
Many of her fellows workers in the Records area are stunned. So, I am going to do a wicked easy pattern quilt. Instead of quilting, we will tie it, each knot becoming a "prayer knot" or "thought knot" I will take this in to work and have it available for people to tie a knot, write in the accompanying journal a message to Joanne. A friend of hers will come over and go through my stash with me to help pick out the colors. I'll back it in flannel and use a soft cotton batt, like W&N. She is staying with her brother and sister-in-law, and has a tremendous support system with her family. Making this quilt will allow some of her co-workers to let her know she is cared for from us.
Meanwhile, this weekend I am moving to another unit, and will have a big mess. Please hold good thoughts it won't rain on Saturday when the movers come and help me move the big stuff!
Ginger in CA winds are blowing real bad again, sigh.....
