OT Mountains and a new job - way ot

We did it, we got all the way to the top of the mountain at Broken River...the first time. Even my toenails hurt, but I don't care. I'm so proud of myself, it was awesome. We walked in the rain, into the clouds. What a beautiful experience.

Today I got a part time job in THE BEST fabric store in Chch; I'll be working two days a week. I wanted to get out and meet more people and help fund my business. This is perfect. PLUS I get a great discount for the first

3 months, then I get fabric at cost. I've designed a range of accessories and have been wanting to get fabric at wholesale. I've always wanted to work in a fabric store.

DS started school today, I've been so nervous about it. He loved it, made friends right away and came home very very happy. Thank goodness. He's been in the same school in Au all his life, so this was a very tense day. I changed schools 13 times as a kid and grew to hate it. I really hoped it would be ok for him.

On the bead front, now my stuff has arrived and I have all my bead boxes, I've been spending hours sorting out the beads I'd crammed into just a few containers so I could bring them over in my luggage. Oi. What a job. But it really needed doing because I just couldn't see what I have. Tonight I'm cropping and tidying up pics that I've taken since learning a bit more about the digi cam. Thanks to all who helped me, it's made a big difference. I'll be sharing them with you this week. Ok, back to work.

You're very very welcome to come over. We're not far from the Uni - we're in Avonhead. Just let me know when you're in town.

This would be a fatal job for me.. I just love fabric shops..

Always making stuff, since I'm a real clothes horse..

Check out the recent threads in r.c.textiles.sewing or just r.c.sewing... Can't remember which one it is off the top of my head - but there is someone there talking about getting new machines..

Well, I already bought some gorgeous printed jersey. I found a cute little zip front jacket pattern and a long, ruffled/hippy-chic shirt pattern in the autumn books. But first of all I need a new sewing machine and overlocker (serger, I think they're called in the US). The whole family needs warm, polar fleece pull-overs for winter, so I gotta find the machines soonish.

And then there's the fibre art side of things too. Been working on machine embroideries embellished with brass shim and beads.

*chortle* Well, I did tell my new employees when they offered me the job that they stand to make money out of me, rather than lose on my wages! I'll pop over to the sewing ng I lurk there quite a bit.
