OT: Need Help with Allergies/Cold

I have 3 1/2 acres here, am working on the ajoining 40, which my mother now owns, no neighbors to speak of, and no garden fit to work in (it has an ice cube under it, 300 x 100 x 30, approx).

God is my gardener.

Lanolin is the "active ingredient" in just about every lotion I've ever used... if you buy the real stuff you don't spend $$ on all those chemicals you don't need, including alcohol. Usually you have to get your pharmacist to order it, although you don't need an Rx.

get the "anhydrous lanolin" means without water in it, its the really sticky gunky stuff in a tube, usually behind the counter in the pharmacy. I put a teeny bit across my knuckles right after a shower then add Curel lotion to put over the rest of me, and the lanolin is easier to work in. By the time you are ready to dress, most of its sunk in and is leeping the moisture in the skin. Really helps avoid/heal torn cuticles. When I have a photo shoot for a book coming up, my hands can't look as banged up as I normally let them get, with raggy cuticles and clay under my nails...so I make sure to do the lanolin thing every day for a week proir to shooting pics for the how-tos'. My son actually asked if I used a hand model for those shots--as though he wasn't here in the same house watching the lights and the cameras and the action!! Sarajane

Awwwww.....Thank you Jalynne and Beth. I do enjoy inducing laughter. Sometimes I make myself laugh. Is that odd? Last night I posted something to another group, read it again, chuckled to myself all the way back to bed. Diana, still chuckling

Jalynne, flaxseed oil is one of the best things for psoriasis and eczema, or so I've read. Pliny The Elder recommended its use as long ago as 3000 years. Very high in vit.E and also the Omega 3,6,and 9 fatty acids. Also the MSM is supposed to help both taken orally and used as a rinse on the skin topically. Also used on dogs with otherwise untreatable mange and other skin disorders. Sarajane

That's good to know. I eat flaxseeds like sunflower seeds all the time. Maybe it will start working soon.

Lansinoh nipple cream is 100% lanolin, anhydrous, available OTC. You've made me consider using it overnight with gloves on my cuticles, except I'm still getting up once during the night to feed DS.
