We included Tango in our will. Since she would have outlived us both we had to be careful what arrangement we made for her. You have to have great friends to will them your parrot. Unfortunately she died at a very early age and DH is still hurting about losing her.
Tango loved to cuddle Dan. She would lay upside down while he petted her like a cat or dog. She absolutely loved him.
I had to think about your post all day before I could respond to it. Learning of another person(s) losing a beloved pet is always hard for me, as I'm sure it is for many others.
In October of 1999, we had to let go of our very much loved Lhaso Apso, Buffie. She was the stuff of dreams...friend, companion, confidant, watchdog, nursemaid, even tattle tale! She was about 12 years old when the cancer in her belly finally took over. She had lived thru pepper spray from a meter-reader (completely un-needed, the guy was a nutcase) a few trips face first off the top bunk of my brothers' bunk beds (her teeth never did grow straight again) a troubled pregnancy resulting in 8 stillbirths and 2 that weren't able to make it past an hour or two, a deadly bite from a brown recluse, and thousands of other injustices done to the family pet when there are rowdy children. In the last few days of her life, Buffie learned to talk. And I mean TALK. As she lay there, waiting patiently for the end, she began crying for my mother, and you could hear the word quite clearly...she was saying "Momma?" Which is what we've always called my mother.
So, yeah, I can completely understand.....nothing compares to losing a beloved furry family member. My warm n fuzzies go out to you, Mj. *strong, close hugs*

Bless you. I'm affected beyond words by your post...

Marjean, you put a little piece of Polly in my heart tonight with your stories. Thank you for sharing your tribute to her.
With tears as I bid her goodbye,

Ohhhh... they're cuddly, and very much like having a small child. You have to treat them like one, for them to remain emotionally healthy. They're WAY too much for me to handle, which is why I like my little parakeets. :)

Mj,
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Polly sounds like a great cat. Like a couple of other animals I have known she is a good example to us all about how to deal with hard times and sickness.
Make sure to be there for your other kitties and let them be there for you!
