I was flipping channels and caught a bit of it, Roxan. It was a girl from Hawaii? I believe her name is Camille Vasco or something like that. You'll know who I mean if you're a fan of the show.

Roxan, Here in NZ I don't watch our idol show as it is absolute #### (fill in the #### any way you want) The voting is rigged as it's too small a country for a show like this to be fair to all the good talent. They went long ago, more's the pity.. Only saw it about twice and quit watching it.

Me too. The girl who got voted off last night was the one who warbled "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" in a very wobbly manner. (I was surprised she got this far.)

There's some amazing talent in this year's show. Last year, I think Ruben won because his church and family mobilized everyone -- many of them called in their votes over and over and over again, which really isn't fair. It was *so* close -- the votes were only what -- about 1000 apart? He and Clay were neck in neck. I think if it hadn't been for Ruben's people repeating votes, Clay would've won easily. But that's my opinion, after all the info came in... ~~ Sooz

I agree. Wasn't it awesome last night, when that woman from the first year sang that song she wrote herself? She is a class act! Wow, I was stunned. :-o ~~ Sooz

Well, look at them now...Clay is playing in an arena here in town, while Ruben is playing in our 300 seat symphony hall...tells you a lot about the careers they are enjoying. I loved Kimberly Locke, and her new song "8th wonder" is pretty good. Schmaltzy, but I like her voice a lot. I keep pulling for our little Georgia girl this year, Diana DeGarma, but she keep selecting horrible songs that don't show off her voice. I liked Amy Adams when she sang the country, I loved Jennifer Hudsons rendition of "Circle of Life"...I like Fantasia's voice alright, but there are a billion other Fantasias singing in church choirs out there...I don't find her unique, except for her look...that is different. I find it interesting that they have to keep changing styles...how many of today's hit vocalists would survive under the pressure that these kids are going through. Would the lead singer of Linkin Park sound any better that John Stephens on "My Girl" I think not! What about the singer in OutKast doing country? BLeh...well, I'll stop my rambling post about nothing! Arleen

I agree with everything you said, Arleen! I wasn't saying who I wanted to win this time around, just that I think Fantasia will win. I love Diana DeGarma, myself, and Jennifer Hudson.....I don't vote, because I can't decide on anyone.

The good thing about American Idol is that all these top ten singers will have people offering them recording contracts. I love that they come out of nowhere and get careers. Would Clay have had a singing career without the show? Hell no, not with that look he had (for one thing!). And now look at him.

One thing about Clay that's helped his career outshine Ruben's -- he looks like he's ENJOYING singing so MUCH. It's joy that just shines out of his pores. It makes him so fun to watch....you really rooted for him on the show because of it, and you love to see him now. I LOVE him.

Amen, Sooz! Ruben always looks miserable on stage, to me. Ugh... who wouldn't, though, on that Christmas special when some fool dressed the boy in that huge parka! Clay oozes "I'm having FUN!!!".

Tamyra Gray. She's amazing. She was on "Boston Public" last season and stole the show from the regulars.

And he worries me -- I'm always thinking he could drop dead from a heart attack or a stroke or something, because he's so big and he sweats rivers when he sings. I hope his efforts to get in shape are working, because otherwise he's going to sing himself to death one day. ~~ Sooz
