Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen

(the other two are much harder - the Bruce one came to me instantaneously. It's the soundtrack to my life)

Graceland - Paul Simon Motown #1 - Various Motown Artists (even though I dance like a white girl)

The third could be exchanged for "The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle - another Bruce album, the one where he just hit the groove and everything clicked. He was ~22 years old, and sounded as surprised at his own fresh, raw talent as the rest of the world. Or Bruce's "Nebraska," where the same boy who was so excited about the possiblities of life in "E Street" sings about the pain of leaving those dreams behind for real life and adult responsibilities.

Then there's Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon," which is brilliant. It's not my favorite music by a long shot, but it always gets me thinking.

If it was a tropical island, Jimmy Buffett's "Songs You Know By Heart" would make every day feel like a party.

Then there's Alanis Morrissette's "Jagged Little Pill," to get me good and ticked off at men, or J. Geils "Blow Your Face Out" to make me feel 17 again. Can I sneak a few dozen extras into my purse to take with me - three just isn't enough!

I couldn't begin to answer the book question, though - way, way too many choices.

Could I take 3 cd's full of mp3's? You can fit about 120-150 songs on one disc :)

Cheers, Carla

Oh ghod... I can't even *begin* to answer this! Let me pick my favorite 30, and I might be able to come up with an approximation.

Celine (of the 400-CD spinner rack plus about 8 60-CD drawer units, all pretty well stuffed)

Oh, Goddess. Can't decide. That's just way too hard.

30 cd's maybe. But not three. Noooooo! LOL

I would hate to get stuck with just 3 cds.... but one would have to be Santana's Supernatural. I would also need some Louis Armstrong... and mabye some Chris Isaak. Oh and some Keb Mo. And of course BB King.... I could just keep going...

Better to trade it in for a musical instrument. Anything else you'd learn to hate. it would have to be complex (but not discordant) classical music.

If I could fit all my favourite Queen songs on one CD, that would be 1. Either Discovery or Out of the Blue by ELO, 2 No3 is difficult - either Mark Knopfler's movie stuff or a grab bag of favourite songs from various groups, etc.

great question! All BRUCE--ALL the time

1-the Best of Light of Day bootleg 2-the Best of the Reunion Tour boot 3-the best of The Rising Tour boot and then I wouldn't even need to be rescued! :)

Well, I'd better support my favorites!

The Beach Boys- Pet Sounds XTC- Nonsuch CSN- Crosby Stills and Nash

Although, if it weren't cheating, I'd substitute my XTC favorites mix CD and my Steely Dan favorites mix CD for the second two.

But you don't own those - that would be wrong, so very wrong, and the music police could fine you thousands of dollars. You've simply heard they exist, right? (nod along with me, now, please)

I've heard a lot of Bruce Springsteen bootlegs out there - if you'd like, send me an email and we can see if there are some I know about that you don't. I noticed you like the newer Bruce stuff. Are you very young and didn't see the older shows? My first show was from the River tour, because I was too young to go beforehand.

I forgot to add my own list....

Moody Blues: To Our Children's Children's Children New World Renaisance Band: Where Beauty Moves and Wit Delights The next one is a toss up... Sting: Fields of Gold or Derek and the Dominoes: Layla, Sarah Mclachin: Solace Each of these has something in common, the songs are fun to sign with and the lyrics are thought provoking. Diana
