Nice button. I cheated on mine. I took a mold of an old silver button of my grandmother's. For pendant bails, button backs, etc, I used loops of fine silver wire.

question: my understanding is that PMC come out "fine silver"??? doesn't that make it too soft? for buttons and anything very big?

Most PMC projects are heavy enough that the softness of it is not a problem. On the other hand, the things I made out of just a couple ply of PMC sheet are too bendy. The fine silver wire I used for bails was 18ga and 16ga. Perhaps I could have used 20ga, but I didn't want to risk it.
