Wonderful Wonderful Beady Day

I've posted a time or two here, but usually in response to OT posts, as I'm not really a beader... however...

Over the past few months, I've built up a small collection of beads from Tink, Kandice, and Dawn. Lately I've felt that it's just not fair for those amazing tiny artworks to be pent up in a box. So, Friday I had the day off and DH was at work, and I decided I was NOT going to spend my day in pajamas watching bad t.v. There's a bead store near where I work, but the few times I've been there, they've never been particularly nice - not outright rude, just not particularly helpful/friendly. Besides, it's close to where I work, but not to where I live, and I was home, after all! So, I searched for NC bead stores and found one that looked easy-to-get-to. I called to check that they still existed and were open, and that I could borrow a tool kit and that someone would be able/willing to hold my hand.

I had a WONDERFUL day!! :-) The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the store was spacious but cozy, and bright. I spent ~5 hours there, and left with 5 necklaces and one pair of earrings. I think I'll go back and rework two of the necklaces Monday, as well as turn two more beads into something.

I'll take pictures and post them soon, just wanted to share what a lovely day I had. And, I've worn jewelry three days in a row - unheard of for me! :-) Alison

P.S. The bead store is Panopolie, in Raleigh, NC.

Soon, Barbara, soon, I promise. Friday night was gift-wrapping, Saturday morning was cookie-baking, Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday were family, and well, Monday I just didn't manage it. I hope to take care of it this evening.

Allison, your post just made me smile! (or is that a smirk as yet another one is assimilated - hahaha) I can't wait to see your pictures, and thank you once again for sharing your beady day experiences with us.

Polly and Annie,

We'll see. I had lots of beads and tools a couple of years back, but sold the whole lot to my aunt. Stringing definitely isn't for me. But, I do enjoy simple wirewrapping to make pendants to hang from simple necklaces. We'll see. I can only wear so much jewelry, after all. :-)

Pictures coming momentarily. Alison

Okay, let's see if this works... I signed up for a free Picturetrail account, I'm not sure how many people it will let view the pics before it has a hissy (like my yahoo website does).

These are not good pics, the colors are not true and ... well, they're not terribly good, but they give the impression okay.

I love the seashells on the ribbon necklace!

I'd say you are on your way to a major bead addiction... LOL

What a wonderful way to spend the day! I'm so glad you had fun, and I'm sure this is only the beginning. I love the shells on the ribbon idea! And it's always so nice to see my beady babies all "grown up" into jewelry. You did a fantastic job with all of them! I love the ribbon you used on Tink's vessel and I adore the way you made the hat for Kandice's snowman. And the tassel you made at the bottom of the Kandice focal!!! Girl....you got it goin' on!!! =o))
