Poly Clay/ wicked Candace

I meant Precious Metal Clay. I got the HotPot, got some tools, and a little tiny bit of clay, and I'm going to *try* making a ring...I think .

I've been playing with polymer clay for a few months now; results are nowhere near what Candace is doing (in such a short time!), but I'm having loads of fun with it.

Cheers, Carla

I don't have any cutters or shapes.

PC is easy to learn on your own and make canes from. PMC is the silver. So very easy to mix up those two's initials. I do not advise self teaching for PMC. It has some quirks, and the material is too expensive for a lot of goofs.

Thanks:) That heart shape without the tail was a beeotch to make, lol! But I was super careful with that one--totally smooth, very uniform thickness, PITA!

Alas, after a bit of calling around, no PMC classes near here. I am brave or stupid enough to prolly try it out myself...

off I go, into the wild, blue yonder!!!

Thanks for saying that. Everything I've done beadwise is self-taught, and I was hoping to teach myself PMC. However, I discovered that there are PMC classes at a nearby art museum. I think I'd rather take the classes than waste the material.

That's why I only got a tiny bit of material. I figure a $13 experiment won't break me , and the tools I got can be used with polyclay, as well, so they won't go to waste.

I got info on a class in my area, but it's not until October, costs more than I spent on tools and PMC and would take approximately four hours of transportation time, there and back.

After DH told me another one of mine looked sloppy, I had to do it better.

Carla, is that the Bead in Hand class?

How far are you from Highland Park? They have quite a few places with classes IIRC and if you see classes going for around $300 or $400, those are for certification. You want to find an introduction class.

Oh man. I don't think anyone has ever called anything I've made lovely. I'm tearing up now.

Yep, that's the one. A friend lives in Oak Park, and she was showing me how to get there on public transit. It's about an hour and forty minutes (a lot of that would be spent waiting on a bus to get to the train station).

I'm not real familiar with the suburbs, at all. I know the ones closest to me are Evanston and Skokie (north, northwest), and Oak Park (west).

I checked at my LBS and they gave me the number for a local arts center. I'll be calling there tomorrow.
