I too have a little personality conflict with Ebay. Part of it is that the Rules keep changing which is an immediate botherbutton pushed for me. Also, the changes are mostly control-oriented, and I resist Authority telling me what to do/not do just on general principals. I spent a lot of time building a website, and if I want to mention that I have one, I will. But that's against the Rules now. I'm not even allowed to put a link to the books I wrote, at Amazon, which I don't even sell myself! I just wanted to establish that I am a credible figure in my field! I got a nasty email from ebay about that. No links!!!!! Sarajane

Hmmm.... I didn't even realize this. I usually put a link on my auctions for one purpose-- to establish credibility.

I also think this rule is taking things a bit too far.

Remember when Radio Shack used to make you fill out a form with your personal info? Last I heard, they'd finally done away with it. It was *so* annoying to have to go through that crap just to buy a pair of batteries. (And as a youngster with no transport, I couldn't go elsewhere.)

This pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about EBay.

No - the private group that requires an invitation is the forum group on Yahoo made up of mostly WC members, and created by a couple of WC members to respond to the psycho bidder. WetCanvas itself is another site

and does not require an ivitation. I am sorry if I confused anyone. All it requires is that you register.

No, Kaytee, actually a full 2/3rds of the listings in the Handmade Lampwork category are either completely different that lampwork or are the imported non-annealed stuff. Even the US subdivision of that category is full of non-related stuff.

You can still put links on your About Me page, and you CAN link to that in your auctions.

Oh, yeah - that's something I almost never do - register software - because it's for the most part only permission for them to sell your information. Masked under the guise of being for technical support - which usually sucks rocks anyway. I usually know more than most tech support people.

Which is why I still have Windows 98. I've seen what XP and the like have done to my hubby's machine. Ick.

I agree with this. I like to be able to know more about who I'm buying from. Having a website and certainly being published adds credibility to a seller. This is especially important when buying a product you can't see and touch.

lets just say you have a well developed sense of value on the market! And there's stuff on ebay that I can't find elsewhere...vintage textiles and such aren't everywhere you look. But I do more looking than buying. Sarajane
