Re: OT Paulette? - Still pregnant

I've been having mild contractions since 4:30pm Tuesday

Don't get scared or anything, but start thinking about the possibility of a C-section, especially if you start leaking amniotic fluid. Kaytee "Simplexities" on

Don't worry about your dilation, Paulette... doctors always act as if it means something, but a large percentage of women DON'T dilate at all in early labor. Many women stay pretty much closed up until labor is well underway... and many women walk around four centimeters dilated for weeks and weeks, and then go two weeks past their due date. If you've been having regular light contractions for four days, you'll probably go into labor before Tuesday rolls around again. Besides, you "sound" like labor is imminent!

Good luck, no worries!

I agree, that's exactly how my labor started. My mother kept saying I was in labor and I said, No NO, It's supposed to hurt! Cheri (Bubbee to Emily and Nathan)

It was 36 hours after rupture that I got one... still "maybe" 2cm dilated after about 15 hrs on pitocin drip. I had started to spike a fever, and there were indications of "fetal distress" (probably because the probe kept slipping off...). Antibiotics were started afterwards. Kaytee "Simplexities" on

So she doesn't have any reason to start worrying until she's gone three days from amniotic rupture without delivering.

36 hrs = 1 1/2 days. I was admitted to the hosp about 3 hrs after the fluid started leaking-- no contractions until they started the pitocin drip the next morning around 11 AM. Had the c-section the morning after that, at about 3 AM. The only reason I waited that long for the c-section, was because the dr was "conservative" about such things-- most of her fellow OBs would have done one earlier so they wouldn't have had to stay up all night. I was her third "unplanned" c-section in the 4 years she had been "catching babies". I think my kid kicked a hole in his "wall", but wasn't really interested in leaving. Was definately mad about being dragged out into the cold, cruel world.... Kinda the same way now, at almost 18.... Kaytee "Simplexities" on

Actually, she was one of his good buddies during his residency.... Also considered "the best" available there (Navy Hosp San Diego), not only compared to other residents, but also compared to staff. She came in to do the delivery even though she wasn't "on" that night-- in fact, had not officially checked back in off TAD + leave. She knew I was there because she had called in to see if any of her "private" patients were admitted. She stuck around until about noon after the delivery (3AM), then went back home to "finish her leave".... Hubby has similar "work ethics", but fortunately is not in a specialty that requires many "midnight emergency" responces. Kaytee "Simplexities" on

Oh yeah, my math is no good!

I started leaking about 23 hours before delivery, but since I did go into active labor and was prgressing (albeit slowly) I wasn't really in danger of a C-section.
