Re: OT rant -- Stupid Ex hurt Mercury!

Well

since he allowed the injury- I'd be guessing HE IS PAYING THE VET BILL

why can't you tell him you aren't letting him have the dog - if it was a court order, tell the court he's a BAD PARENT.... and get "custody!"

I know you'd take Merc's place if you could.

My sympathies to both you and him. I agree, it would be so much less aggravating if you could just keep him with you.

I'm so sorry. But please don't get ahead of yourself -- let Merc heal from this wound before worrying about arthritis that might not come. The Sophster has had a titanium knee since she was six months old, and that's not the joint with arthritis. The fake knee is fine, it's the other one that's giving her problems.

Poor Merc. Is there anything that will make him feel better?

He doesn't deserve that dog, that's abuse!

Because dogs are seen as property in the eyes of the law. And we have joint ownership in the divorce agreement. Dammit.>

har har - don't let THAT STOP YOU. During MY DIVORCE my ex was not caring for HIS dog -- the one that lived outdoors... and I had moved out. I called the local animal people - they came out - looked and told him that if he didn't take care of the dog - they were taking it away from him. I had to call a second time, and they went out and fed the dog - and left him a warning telling him the next time he would be arrested....knowing they meant it, he gave the dog away. (I could not and would not take the dog, she was a big shepherd, and I was never attached to her.... as I've always been somewhat afraid of bigger dogs).

If you report him for the neglect.... they might get a court order through the local animal agency saying that he cannot HAVE the visits anymore. Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

Yep...I agree with Cheryl. Just because it's in the divorce agreement, doesn't mean that circumstances can't change, just like with child custody, especially when there's abuse or negligence involved. Please, for Merc's sake, at least talk to the ASPCA for advice.

I love how much you know about healing and remedies. Seems like you always have a practical suggestion for getting well quicker, and feeling better.

I have a better idea, Sooz. Tell the new wife that you'll completely disappear from their lives if you get to keep Mercury. (doesn't she technically "own" part of your ex's "half" now?) I bet you she'd break all speed laws on her way to your house with Merc in tow!!! Let *her* worry about pissin' off your ex, LOLOLOLOLOL!!

And they don't usually have the 'over time' access to their patients, so they could give advice that is more individualized and keyed to what actually works for a particular person, rather than simply matching a prescription to a diagnosis in a 'one size fits all' kind of way.

To do them justice, they just don't have the conditions to make that more responsive connection to people possible most of the time. Folk medicine is usually practiced by people who know their clients a lot better, and that makes the 'intuition' factor stronger and more accurate.

Exactly. So, instead of training to be everybody's MD, I am the family researcher/co-ordinator/aide/and triage nurse. Got splinters, I'm your gal. Sarajane

I'm so glad, Sooz!!! It'll make a difference longterm with joints and pain levels too. I'd think you could give some to Mercury too, its got lots of vitamin E and good stuff for healing in it---just pour a capful on his food. Sarajane

We are talking about this ----idea. ~~

Sooz - I was gonna suggest it to hell - my ex was supposed to pay his share of medical expenses for the boys - and NEVER PAID A DIME after 1987 --- do you think the court gives a flying f.... hell no - tell the ex to go stick it where the sun does not shine the next time he comes... or just don't BE HOME when he comes for the dog - or don't answer the door. Even if the dip calls the cops - they cannot enforce the court order without another court order from the court ordering you to obey the court order.. LOL - don't you love the stupid law??? Kevin knows - you guys can make it so it's too much hassle for him...... Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass
