Pearl-Ex

I was given a pack of Pearl-Ex powders for my birthday (2yrs ago)!! I've only used them a couple of times for painting, and that's it. It says on the box that it can be used for all sorts of stuff, but I'm having a hard time finding more about it and what I can use them on/for etc. Have any of you used them, and can you suggest (bearing in mind that I'm a "need to see" type of girl) any creative uses for these. They are lovely powders, and I'm afraid I will not be using them to their full potential. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Cec,

I just tried a technique Friday night using the Pearl-Ex powders with embossing powder. It said to use 1/4 Pearl Ex to 1 part clear embossing powder. Now I was trying it with gold and I should have used clear, but as I said I was experimenting. It gave a faint color to it, but I'm looking forward to trying it with the clear.

I have tried using Pearl Ex with Versamark and it will rub off. A fixative is definitely needed. The look is really nice though.

Lynne...I wonder what the difference is between them! I think the Rangers Perfect Pearls has resin added so that might be why it stays put better...whereas the Pearl-Ex seems to just be pigment powder so nothing to make it hold on. I have ordered some from ebay so I will give them both a tryout. I have just cut out some ATC blanks to have a play around with :o) I am not part of the swap......I just want to have a go and see how they turn out.

Yes, pearl ex is a very fine powder of color to be added to things. It makes quite a messy fun. I made some extra ATCs so if you do a card you like we could trade.

I guess it is sort of weightless Lynne...no sneezing allowed when using it.....hahahaha I would love to trade with you if anything I make comes up to scratch :o) Don't consider myself terrible artistic but I am willing to try things out. Will keep you informed of any progress on the ATC front!

I have a Pearl Ex handout, but it's 7 pages long. If you all really really REALLY want me to post it to the group, I will. Otherwise, email me at bsrdjr AT sbcglobal DOT net and I'll email it to you. There's 29 different ideas/techniques on the handout, so there's lots of things you can do with PE!
