it is as easy as it looks. Just any brass stencil and demensional paint from the craft section at walmart is what I used. You can either hold the stencil down or use the removealbe masking tape on it. Get a plastic spreader (kinda like a plastic knife with a bend in the middle). Place a small amount on the spreader and spread into the stencil and scrap excess off the top. Practice on scrap pieces of paper first till you get the hang of it. Clean you stencil between each use to keep the edges sharp in the removal of the stencil from the paint. You can wait a minute or remove immediatley but slowly and straight upwards. practice practice practice!.... I had fun with it! A tube of the paint will last a good long while. I have white(paintable after it dries!), blue and red myself

Ok, this sounds really cool. Is this something you use with scrapbooking or altering? Or both? Got any projects we can peek at? I don't think I've seen this technique, yet.

yeah, I would also like to see it. I once bought some "puff" paint I've never used. It comes in pen form and the package says it puffs when you heat it. Is this about the same thing?

puff paint is coool to but it won't make the intricate designs demsnsion paint and stencils can. Puff paint looks to do it when you initailly draw with it but when you heat it and it puffs totally different look!

I bought some Americana brand stucco from the clearance aisle at Michaels for $1.00 a jar. It works just like the dimensional paint. It comes in colors but I just bought the white. It is paintable and you can us it with stencils. I wanted to make raised swirls like those that you find on a cake. I bought the little cardboard box that has the swirls punched out of the top. I swirled the stucco on the bottom and edge of the top. Left it dry overnight. Applied black Gesso to the top and bottom and inside of the box. I then brushed on multiple colors of Pearl-Ex while the Gesso was barely damp across the stucco area and the top. Sprayed it with a clear sealer inside and out. I put a bag of potpourri in the box and crossed a Christmas gift off my list.

That sounds really neat! Any way you can share a picture? Don't you just love Pearl Ex? I added some PE to Gesso (I think) and used it to paint the inside of an altered 'purse' I did for DD. It gave it a pearly sheen, really pretty if I do say so myself.
