Why do people even get dogs if they aren't going to let them be inside with their folks? I understand putting a dog out in the yard during the day, weather permitting (heck, my MOM used to put me outside during the day, weather permitting) but what on earth is the joy of having a dog you never spend time with? I mean, I only nominally "spend time" with Penny (she sleeps all the time) but at least she's physically here with me.

People who do that think it's somehow "funny" to inflict their own addictions on their pets. It makes them feel normal, I suppose.
