Re: Semi OT - about muses

So, we need to draft/create a muse of our own...

Who is the patron saint of glass-makers, btw? There is sure to have been one...

I googled "patron saint Catholic glass"

Because there is usually more than one patron saint for a specific vocation. When I searched on "jewelers," I got three saints.

I liked Luke as the patron saint because he also covers goldsmiths, silversmiths, precious stone collectors and glass workers. All those sound particularly appropriate to here.

St. Agatha, patron saint of jewelers, is also the patron saint of breast cancer and is represented by two cut-off breasts on a plate. That just squicks me out, and I'd rather not consider it.

Well no wonder it's so hard for us to keep up with them!

Too many for poetry - maybe we should kidnap one????

Wait a second - isn't a patron one who supplies funding in the background for an artist? Oh Luke! Here I am...

actually - much dispute on that

Most lists say Saint Luke, generally because he is patron of most of the 3 dimensional arts, you will also find Saint Nicholas listed, Saint Lucy, and at least two references that say Saint Anthony Abate.. (no apparent reason)

now for jewelers - the list is Saint Agatha (for no discernible reason I can tell), Saint Dunstan (said to have been a goldsmith) and Saint Eligius (a metalworker) Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

well - if she needn't be a CATHOLIC saint - after all the muses were not of the catholic sort....

I think I found one -- she sounds like our kind of gal....

I like the combination of professions ... glass-workers, gondoliers and lamplighters.
