Review August/September edition of Beadworks

I can't believe I didn't used to even look at Beadworks - to intimidated by the thought it focused on scary seed beading. But it seems to have so much more content than other bead magazines at the moment and this edition is no exception. You get a feature on Czech beadmaking; medieval German beadwork; the oldest bead EVER discovered; a bunch of projects and features on several artists - plus ads placed by extremely talented lampworkers - Highly recommended!

Beadwork rocks. I prefer it to Bead & Button, myself. (Have a subscription)

I love that magazine! I had never even looked at it, and then I picked up their last "stringing" special issue and was hooked.

I have Beadworks and haven't looked at it. I will say that Bead Style was a total waste of money -- I was actually PISSED when I got done leafing through it. Not a single new thing in that issue. They had a hinged twisted wire bracelet that I have been seeing for a thousand years, and this person "came up with it" to solve a design problem? I DON'T THINK SO. I threw it away. I hardly ever do that with a mag. It sucks when the ads are the best part of the magazine, and I can see the same ads in every other mag.

Yup, Bead Style was absolutely bobbins, but as there was so little of interest I did scour the ads more than with decent magazines and I noticed a couple of sellers I'd not heard of before, I don't think they're in the links list:

- handmade clay beads and findings

- enameled silver charms (I've been looking for stuff like this for ages!) and there was also an ad for

- I've seen the ad before but I'm not sure if it's in the links list.
