Hey all,
It's been a while since I posted some of the work I've been doing.
I entered into Bead Dreams 2007, and obviously didn't win but I thought I'd share my entries.
This one was a finalist in the judging in the polymer clay category:

Well my first post never showed up, so I'm posting from Google.

I've also been exploring my 2-d art options and finally merged drawing animals with polyclay. Here's a few of my pendants I've done:
Wow! Such a lot of lovely work. The pink beads are great and I love the art cards. Could you tell me how to go about making the cards. The purse is lovely. Hugs Shirley

Love the art cards. But I don't understand. Surely you would give this out as a card. Or is it a card case? Or is it an "art card" because it's card beading.
I always love to see all the stuff you're doing.
Tina
Lovely work Valerie Bravo V
WOW!! Great stuff, Val!!
Congratulations on being a finalist!! And the purse is so cool!!
I love the drawings, but I couldn't get the last one to come up.
The art cards are gorgeous!!!
You've been a busy girl!
Valerie, Love the cat. Congratulations on making the finals in Bead Dreams. Both times that I attended B & B, I didn't agree with the judges final decisions at all. The first time, 3 years ago, I thought their choices were very conservative. This time, especially in the lampwork category, I thought that some of the more creative beads were ignored.

The beaded purse is stunning! Can't even imagine how many hours long you must have put into it! Lovely!
I couldn't get the last one to come up either.
Wow the art cards are awesome. I have done some myself, but I never thought about covering the whole thing with beading. What a ton of work! :)
The pocket book was unbeadlieveable! I can't believe you didn't at least place! But you know, that's why I quit doing juried competitions... it's just too darn frustrating to figure out what the judges want and mesh that with your own creativity!
Also loved the PC beads that were in the finals. Lovely!
Woohoo great work Girl You Rock
Hey Tina!
You swap or sell an art card. A swapped art card is called an ATC (Artist Trading Card) and generally a sold card is called an ACEO (Art Card, Edition and Original). It's purpose is simply to be I guess. It doesn't really have a functional purpose. You can display art cards, collect them like baseball cards or use them for anything else you can think of.
An art card is a 2 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch card. It can be done in any medium.
Thanks Patti!
Yeah, I don't understand how the judges go about judging. I sent in something that I loved and put love into. Maybe next time, or maybe another contest.
Whoops, try this one:
Thanks Karleen!
The bag was a ton of work. I'm starting on another one now. Muwahahaha! ;-) This time I have a sewing machine to at least assist me with the construction.
After doing the bag, the art cards were easy! It was fun.
Do you have pics of your art cards?
Thanks Kathy!
Thanks Vicky!
Hi Shirley! Thanks!
I bet art cards are something you would like! It's very fun and you can get as funky as you like. Here are a couple links for you to check out about art cards in general :
Due to my steadily advancing CRS (can't remember shit), I neglected to write to tell you that I saw your entry in person at the Bead & Button Show this year.
WAY TO GO, VALERIE!!!! The beads were gorgeous... you did a great job! They were in a tall, wide glass case and very brightly lit by natural light coming in through the windows. The colors are marvelous and the lighting helped show off your pattern.
Congratulations are certainly due to you for all your hard work! Not very many people in this world get to have their beads or jewelry displayed at the yearly B&B shows, but you can count yourself as one of them and I'm proud of you. :)
Wow that's what I'd call the Cat's Meow!!!
Yep, take a gander here:
