Showin' off stuff I made :o)

I made a couple more *beggar* necklaces. They remind me of those beggar bead stories, so I've decided to call 'em that :o) Pics:

Not the best pics, but you get the idea :o) I spent most of this morning re-photo'ing a bunch of earrings for me site. Most came out really well, but there are a few that are still really giving me trouble. Namely, anything with clear Swarovski! Just can't get a clear picture. I pulled out some grey microfleece from my sewing stash, and it worked really well as the backdrop. I cleaned off the patio table, so I could take pics outdoors, and, although there was MORE light, it was still kinda tough to get it just right. I tried to use posterboard, and paper plates, and mirrors to bounce light around to where I wanted it, but still, some of the pics came out kinda funky. I don't even wanna get into the bracelets' pics! Here's my new earring pics:

Also, here's a couple bracelets I made with some of the beads from my first BFNR. I've never made bracelets before, and I'm not *totally* happy with these (for one, *some* of the components on the ladybug one are basemetal =8-O :

I just wish *I* could wear some of this stuff! LOL Oh, wait, I can wear the necklaces......

Anyway, haven't done any beading for over a week (yes, I'm starting to get

*the shakes*! ;o), and I just wanted to show off a bit of what I HAD done :o)

]anything with clear Swarovski!

no kidding!!!

the best i've been able to do is pastel colored tissue paper, but it doesn't do a very good job.

have you tried laying them flat on the scanner and putting your fleece or whatever backdrop over them before you scan them?

you might get more detail that way.

I like the red necklace and your blue and green bell flower earrings. You do very nice wire work. Why do you say you can't wear your jewelry?

I don't have a scanner. 6 computers running 24 hours a day, and two servers in my home, yes, but no scanner (dangit!) :o(

I don't wear bracelets, because I find them really inconvienient. Always in the way, banging into things, etc. I can only wear surgical steel in my ears; for some reason, my lobes are really sensitive, LOL. Trying on earrings with sterling wires, even for just a couple seconds, will make them red and itchy for days. I thought it might be that the wire had burrs on it, or something, but I spend a LONG time getting my earwires filed perfectly smooth, and it doesn't help one bit (just enrages my carpal tunnel syndrome). Same thing with storebought earrings.

Now I am wondering if it's all my skin that is sensitive (I've never really thought about it before, LOL). I know I'm allergic to nickel, but I wonder if any piercing would be sensitive. I think I'll have to find some 12ga sterling wire, and try it out in my lip for a while. Has anyone ever heard of someone being allergic to sterling silver??

ouch! sorry about that!

fwiw: my mother and david both just bought new HPs for about $80. they're scanners, copiers, and printers - all in one. scanner seems to do a good job.

yes - Nicole's mother is allergic to both sterling and nickel. the only thing they've found she can wear is niobium. luckily, niobium is GORGEOUS!

We've got an HP all in one and they can't scan jewellery. I had no luck with my old one either - the light comes just from the front and you get a terrible shiny line all the way over the wire! The new HP's also have terrible depth of field because they were really meant for scanning photo's apparently so everything not one the glass won't have great sharpness.

Yes, a friend of mine could only wear 18ct gold when she was little. She can wear most thing now, but not the plated stuff!

well, my HP said it was specifically designed for 3D. and it has done a pretty good job so far.

Nice work Kyla! I enjoyed looking at it all!

I have some beggar beads that my dad got me in Thailand, when I was a kid. I keep meaning to re-string them. They have these cloth beads that are wrapped with gold thread, between the beads, and they've come apart. Just not sure what I want to put in there.

When I got an HP all-in-one, I could "copy" my jewelry fine, but when I tried to "scan" my jewelry, I had a garnet bracelet come out grey. I could not get it to scan red to save it's life. Exchanged it for the same model, same problem.

Haven't tried with Ken's new one...it's another HP all in one, will have to try sometime.

Thanks, Harry :o) Everyone that has seen the necklaces in person liked the amber one the best, too. I'm partial to the red one, but that's because it's shorter,a nd I'm not crazy about earth tones ;o)
