Can someone please advise me about removing glue from the backs of flatback rhinestones please. I have some I removed from a garment and wish to use on another.

Thanks

Daisy - problem with removing the glue from the back of a rhinestone - is that anything that will dissolve the glue will probably remove the backing (mirror coat) also....

I would have thought metho would do the trick. You could try that.

I would just buy new rhinestones. It's not worth exposing your hands to whatever toxic chemicals you would need to remove the glue, which would almost certainly remove the mirror coating, as was previously stated. Patti

Thank you Patti. No, we don't just buy new rhinestones, when we have over $1000 invested in an obsolete garment. We try to reuse as many as we can from a discarded dance outfit. Believe me these stones cost megabucks!

We scrape as much glue from the backs of stones as we can, but just wanted a simpler and cleaner process if possible.

Try GooGone at craft stores. And I sorta think we all know what rhinestones cost around here.....

While many here know what they cost, I don't think it was clear before that she was talking about so MANY of them, you see?

It's just a long tedious job trying to scrape the old glue off. It comes off eventually with perseverence.

Thank you for your interest.
