Some -Simple- Necklaces

I posted these scans for Vicki yesterday but they never showed up (as far as I can tell), so I'm posting them again. These are things my teen-aged daughter is wearing this year. She wanted necklaces that aren't fussy (which is certainly not *my* style). These are a few I came up with. She loves them. The first one is just Swarovski crystals and silver bicone beads.

Hi Carol,

Very *my style*! I like simple, and those are wonderful! I like the orange/red one the best. And I like the little star touches too. :-)

I asked about those stars last night, when I saw your original posting of the pictures, but am not sure if you saw it, so I will ask again.

Where do you get those stars? I like them and am curious.

IYDMMA, why don't you drive? I don't generally consider it healthy for anyone to be completely dependent on others for transportation unless there are medical reasons which make it inadvisable for them to drive. Oh, and what about buses? Are you in an area which has any kind of public transportation?

You know, I expected something different from your description. I made up some based on the words you used to describe yours. Very different.

I didn't learn to drive until I was 28, and it was so much easier than I thought! I did it in the nick of time, too, as my husband left me with two little kids shortly thereafter.

OHHH Carol - I can see a teen wearing all of those - definitely "in style." The purple one is very yummy

that red one is very striking - kind of "art deco in a way" I'm sure the red white and blue on will go over big next Thursday.... sigh.

I agree. Nothing opened up my life like using some of the first of my self-earned wages (in high school) to buy myself a moped. I was living in Berlin at the time, and used the underground to give myself mobility as well.

I didn't get my US drivers license until I was in my twenties, because I was living overseas most of the time up until then. But getting my own wheels -- even the two-wheeled variety -- made for a big boost in independence and the capacity to make my own choices.

As a late learner, let me tell you, the longer you wait, the more nervous you'll be. I also found that a drivers license gives you more credibility in America.

I'm not much of a shopper kind of person. I tend to know what I want, go get it and be done with it.

it and be done with it.<

This describes me perfectly!! I guess I just tend to do this fairly often which is why people think I love to shop!

Actually, I think there are two *varieties* of shopping. One is "errand" shopping, when (as you say) you know what you want, go buy it, and go home. The other is "browsing" or "recreational" shopping, when you just go out somewhere and start looking at stuff to see if any of it calls to you. It's the latter that people who "don't like to shop" generally don't do.
