Not sure if this is OT or not...
I have a lot of fine silver wire that is just a wee bit too large for what I want to do with it. Could I get a draw plate and pull it down to about 30 gauge?

You can, you will need to anneal it first to soften it to make it easier to pull down. It will be hard work though. You have to keeping going down one hole size each time and anneal between each drawing. Shirley

I'll take the larger stuff. Just send me an email.
How much 30ga do you need? I have 30ft, but I've not once needed/used it, and would be happy to pass some or all of it on :o)

30' without a doubt!T>How much 30ga do you need? I have 30ft, but I've not once needed/used it,
Oops, no, I missed that part of the op; I just have sterling :o( Sorry! But let me know how the drawplate thing is (if you do it ;o); I've been toying with that idea, too. I'm near-obsessed with making stuff *from scratch* ;o) I've even been trying to figure out how I can get to Arizona, and dig me up my own turquoise; if it ever happens, I'll be running to Harry for tumbling advice ;o)
< Woo-Hoo! If you ever get to Arizona and you happen to dig alot of turquise, I would tumble it for you for a few stones. :) Want to see some prices of rough stones? Go here:
