Vintage Swarovski questions

Hi,

Tonight I was looking at a site that has some Swarovski beads in colors I have never heard of before, let alone seen. I am wondering if any of you have heard of any of these colors: Scarabee, Ambrosia, Roman Bronze, Hadium, Black Lace, or Carousel 2B?

Is there a list of actual DS Swarovski vintage colors that anyone can refer me to? I did look online and will look for references at the library tomorrow, but I thought maybe someone here might know.

And here's da goods:

I've never heard of ANY of those names. I love the heliotrope teardrop shaped ones and was ready to buy them on the spot until I saw the price. 6 for $30. Six for THIRTY dollars? Getouttahere, and kiss my ass. They are beads for God's sake.

I am nuts about everything heliotrope that Swarovski ever made. It is the awesome color that can make almost any piece of jewelry POP (as they say in the makeup world on all these stupid ass makeover shows. Your eyes are supposed to pop and your lips are supposed to pop and, please, don't forget to make your cheekbones pop. Snap-crackle-pop. Give me a break). Six for thirty dollars? YOU CAN KEEP THEM ALL.

OMTP. Super-duper-OMPT. The Michael Phelps of OMTP.

HAW! HAW HAW HAW God you are SO RIGHT. I was a makeup artist, and we *never* said that back in the day. (Eyes and lips are supposed to STAY IN YOUR HEAD, or you're in big trouble....) ~~ Sooz

Yep, the prices are waaay too high for what I want to spend. That's why I was wondering about the names of the colors. Someone else on the planet has to have them at a more reasonable price. Well, one can hope.

I'm off to work with Kate in a few minutes and she used to have a crystal biz - I'll ask her if she's heard of any of those color names.

Exactamundo, Dr. It makes one sound like a cartoon character.

Having said such, I totally tweezed my eyebrows this morning much more than I have ever before and I love the results. My eyebrows be poppin'.

I have ordered from that site before (I made sure I kept to a dollar or less a bead:) ) and I know the Ambrosia rocks.

I left my note with colors in the car today - so I'll check with my expert in the morning on the colors.

All right, what does the above mean?? You can find Heliotrope Swarovski for much less than those prices, though it is getting rarer. It's one of my favorite colors as well. That, Morion AB and Vitrail Medium (the old stuff, not the new). Patti

I've love that site and assume they know what they're talking about but the prices seem higher than on e-bay - I buy most my vintage stuff from ebay stores using BIN - there's usually quite a bit of swarovski about.

Thanks, Kathy! I did check around for resources at the library, but that didn't yield anything. I'll keep checking on my end, too.

All the best, Deborah

IME websites will usually sell at higher prices than eBay, because many sellers with websites use eBay as a way to advertise for new customers.

What I want to know is when the makeup people are going to come out with templates or stencils for those of us who barely have any. I look like a washed out freak if I don't color mine in and the older I get the harder it is to do that because I can't see as well as I used to.

They've done it already.

Take some of it with a grain of salt. A lot of these women are makeup hos, and they're too enthusiastic about EVERYTHING cosmetic. But you can find out what the colors really look like, whether a cosmetic has shimmer or not, if a concealer is cakey and won't blend, stuff like that. SAVES MONEY (did I already say that?). ~~ Sooz

My light eyebrows (and blue eyes) have made it easier for me to lighten my hair and not look like a brunette who dyes her hair. ;-) Now that I'm no longer dying my hair and letting the grey come it, it looks very natural. Most people have no idea that I used to have dark mousy brown hair.

I have (only my hairdresser knows for sure LOL) light hair, blue eyes and always had brown eyebrows. Those brows used to get me in trouble in grammar school where makeup was forbidden so I plucked them. I think I plucked them too much, they stopped growing back in my 30's and now they're so sparse and some are white I look freaky.
