AAAAAAhhhhhhhhhh Help w/ needle breaking

I finally tried to embroidery a free standing lace design. I used #40 weight thread, and 3 sheets of the heavier water soluble stabilizer. That's it.. I have a Brother 150. The tension was set on 5..... I used the same thread in the bobbin... I broke 2 needles. Any suggestions? This is the second time I used my brand new machine..... I had to put it away (and now I need to go out today and buy more needles... ) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks... Yours in embroidery....... Marla

I am currently embrodering snowflakes on my 150. I use two thick pieces of water soluble stabilizer. I also use the bobbin thread as my top thread, 60 weight, with a size 12 needle. My tension is set to

4.5.

I haven't had any problems with these adjustments.

Watch out for the thread looping around the supply spool, jamming, and bending the needle, it will happen so fast you won't know what hit you.

I had this same problem when I first started using my Brother 150. I found out you need to use just what the book says. The book is specific--50 weight thread on top and

60-90 in the bobbin. I tried to use a 50 weight in the bobbin, and it didn't work. Also, the needle size is a size 11, pla> I am currently embrodering snowflakes on my 150. I use two thick
