Has anyone else heard of a 'tool' called George's Arm that is used to help hold a Stained Glass Lampshade while soldering it? I am trying to figure out where I can buy one or how one can be made.

I come from a lampmaking background of almost 30 years. You name it and I have a jig set up for holding a lamp in place. You may want to save yourself money and do this oldtimers trick: Get a large box that is bigger and deeper than your lamp. Crumple up lots and lots of balls of newspaper or such, and fill up the box overflowing with them. Now place the lamp in the box on top of the paper.... (both inside and outside of lamp will work). You can easily move the lamp around in the smallest increments to keep the area you need to solder parallel to the ground by pressing it into the papers.

Paleontologists routinely use a sand box (sometimes dampening the sand) and labware ring stands (sometimes fitted with movie gaffer's accessories) to position fossil elements for repair. That said, if there is a link to "George's Arm", it would be interesting to review.
