A great opportunity and HI again

Hi all

I was on here quite a while back. I was going through Chemo. That's all behind me now except for the permanant side effects it left and all the pills I still have to take.

Anyway, I opened a tiny needlework shop in the corner of a larger craft shop in October. Then they closed it the end of November to relocate to a better area. No December sales!

Then about the second week of December my 2 friends (sisters) who own a cross stitch & gift shop in Helen, GA called to offer it to me. They have found a larger place in Dillsboro, NC that they are buying.

I was thrilled once I finally believed it. They are leaving me some stock and fixtures and I will be assuming one of their apartment lease. I have already talked to the shop's landlord and the rent will not be raised. My husband is all for it, even though he will be left behind for a few months until he can get our home squared away and put on the market. All seems to be going well.

Except...I am short the actual moving in money. The shop's first month's rent, deposits, biz license, etc. About $3000.

I have tried everything I can think of and because we have never had credit, we don't have any now. If I had not already sunk what money I had into my little corner space, I'd be ok.

Anyone want to loan me the 3 grand? I am offering 10% interest AND you can get your stuff at cost plus any shipping during the length of the loan (1 year, probably less).

I do plan to add to the cross stitch. I'd like to have all the basic needle arts represented. I'll be offering classes in the ones I know and looking for others to teach the ones I don't. I will also be adding a web site store for easier ordering for those who live out of the area.

It is 1000 sq ft with lots of character. The biz is in it's 4th year and has had 30 - 35% increases every year. It ended with a gross of $68,000 for 2007. That was only on cross stitch and gifts. The customer base is established and thanks to Wal-mart, it is growing.

I hope everyone has a Great New Year!

Good to see you back.

Since you have a house, could you get a home equity loan for the $3000? If not, here's praying that you get a decent offer the first day it's on the market.

Alternately, what sort of stock are they leaving you? E-mail me the inventory list. I don't think I could order three grand at once, but if you have anything I want, I can give you an order for a good chunk of cash to get you started toward your goal. And I betcha among us RCTNers we could get you other orders for your stock on hand to give you $3000 total, to be shipped as soon as you take possession.

Whaddya say, gang?

If anyone is interested in a list of my stock on hand, email me off list and I will send it to you. I also have accounts with Wichelt/ Mill Hill and Yarn Tree that are doable, if you wanted to order something I don't have. I'll even lower my markup a little for you guys. Just mention RCTN. And I do have apaypal account that could be used.

I am working on a web site store but got frustrated with ZenCart and opensource codes so I had to stop for a few days. I really need to get a digital camera for some of my hand crocheted items to be put on it.

Ahhh, there is hope!

Girlfriend, you know this gang is (a) always willing to buy stash, and (b) always happy to support a LNS.
