:( and major tears

I have been working on the BOAF ladies of the seasons and, in order to make sure I actually do all four, I've been working on my least favortie, L'Otomne. I am alway meticulous about keeping my material and hands clean as I work, so I don't need to wash the project when finished.

Apparently, at the last meet, some swimmer stepped on my bag and ground some dirt or spilled something onto my material when I was talking to someone else and left a large brown spot. Of course, I didn't even notice until I got home because it was in a section where the material was draped away from me and out of my sight. At first I thought I could clean it and very carefully used Tide stick on the area. No luck

- needed more cleaning.

Well, you know where this is going - despite my best efforts, the brown stain wouldn't come out. But even worse - the material soaked up every bit of water and soap and spread and my overdyes started running. I was about 40% done with the project and now I am about to cry.

I can say that I'll do one of the other ladies next - L'Otomne just seems to be jinxed for me!

Linda, I am so sorry. Sending cyberhugs your way. These disasters try our souls. I know and can thoroughly empathize. Your in my thoughts. I've never found spot cleaning to be anything but more misery. Cold water rinses may be your only way out. Oh, I wish I could wave a magic wand.

I'm so sorry Linda. I've had similar disasters but fortunately not on something done with an overdye. Try dipping it in cold water and see if that will help.

So sorry to hear about this. How incredibly frustrating. You could try to rinse in cool water with plain ivory dish soap - no additives, and keep rinsing, and add a little white vinegar in each of the soaking rinses. You may get the running stains out - and it'll just look not quite the same . If you care to try and salvage it. We've done it in the shop and managed to get it better...

Again, so sorry about this. Like your idea of moving on to the next lady, then you can come back to this when it's not so painful.

Oh dear me my friend! I guess the only thing to do is start over. I think the initial damage from the pool water might have been the death knell, given what it can do to a swimsuit and towels.
