Confetti Stitches?

There is a web page at:

and on this page you will (hopefully) see a picture of a German Shepherd and a Pomeranian. Notice where the back of the German Shepherd ends, and the bottom of the Pom. There are a bunch of stitches that indicate there is more to the dogs, instead of ending in a clean line. Are these dotted stitches called confetti stitches? I love this way of ending a picture, but have no idea how that effect was accomplished. Thanks for any advice any of you have. Sorry I have to hit and run again, but now that the better weather is here, there's lots of outdoor work just screaming my name! lolMaureen In Vancouver, B.C.

A good explanation of what confetti stitches are. I suspect the effect of the fade out was accomplished manually; just set the program to substitute blank stitches, and select a few.

Thank you Erica. Your explanation makes PERFECT sense. I always thought confetti stitches were as shown on that page with the dogs, but so often I've read where 'confetti stitches' were such a pain to stitch and I never knew the reason why. :)

And thank YOU Jim. I love that 'fade effect' and now that I know it wasn't accomplished with 'cofetti stitches', I'll go pick apart some pictures I'm currently charting and see about finishing them that way lol.

It's a visual thing....think of the way confetti look when it hits the floor...scattered squares of color all over.

So scattered sts of a color are confetti sts.
