New year spurs wip effort

Yes, that same old iris needlepoint.. I am bound and determined to finish it by Spring. I came to the conclusion that I hated the background in pale gray and spent hours ripping out what I'd done, plus I think I was about to run short too. (Blasted kit). I need to find a supplier of DMC, pick a pale gold, and proceed to finish the darn thing. Do you think an LNS would be willing to mail me a few choices? I am a good distance from a DMC supplier and will pay for postage etc. I can't even fall back on Walmart, much as I hated to patronize that outfit. . The fact that I saw something I *really* want to do has helped, of course. I won't let myself start anything new til this iris thing is done.

I hope the new year is goading others here to pick up that needle.

In fact, since Kathy designs a bit, if you give her the numbers of the other colors you've used, she will be able to trim the list of pale golds to those she thinks are most compatible. I trust her color sense.

Or you could visit Herrschners.com and acquire a DMC color card so you can pick your own colors henceforth.

I did. Sesame Street is due for a birthday at the end of the month. Rough figures, if I can get in an hour a day, I'll be OK. I'm planning to work on it while watching TV tonight.

I stitched yesterday, and today, too. This is uusual....I tend to spend far too much time in front of the computer!

Me, too, but at least I'm getting paid for most of the time I spend with the computer.

I'm inspired! I have a petit point picture of a friend that I've been working on for so long that he has shaved his moustache off long ago, and his hair is now going gray. I'm almost embarrased to give it to him! But it's his birthday next Victoria Day (May 24th) so now I'm determined to give it to him, framed and wrapped as his next birthday present!

Good! If you work on it 20 minutes a day, see how far you get in a week, then you can gauge your time til May and figure on framing, of course. Glad you are picking it up again.

I have vowed to sit no longer than 15 minutes at a clip in front of this dumb screen. I intend to plunk a timer here as support. My back will thank me for it, as well as other projects lying around, like the wretched ironing.

Ok, I'll find some WIPS that I want to finish and add mine to the list!

Last night was a good night - I had three finishes!

The first was a cross-stitch piece that I'd started I don't know how many months ago - sometime in the last year. It was a little project (freebie of a thistle) that I was stitching twice - gifts for two people. I'd abandoned it and forgotten about it until I found it recently in the bottom of my stitching tote. So last night I finished the second one.

*Then* I finished stitching buttons on a new bathrobe I sewed this fall

- everything was done but the buttons, and somehow I just never got around to them! So yesterday I did those to start the new year right.

And then I finished crocheting a hat that I'd begun just a few days earlier. DD finished an afghan she was crocheting and on Christmas brought me all her scraps - small balls of several bright colors. I've crocheted three hats so far that will probably go to a homeless shelter.

I'm on a roll now! Today I add a NEW project in my rotation, and continue to work on several other WIPs.

Isn't it fun? As I read through your post my heart went back to similar times in my own stitching history and I felt the "thrill" all over again. I love the "rotation" system which I learned right here on RCTN.

Congratulation Susan, and happy new year!!

I abandoned what I was working on/avoiding before Xmas & have gone back to working on my Musical Angel cross stitch. It has been so long since I worked on it that it seems new again. Dora

I've picked up my Musical angel cross stitch again and have (temporarily) abandoned the projects I was working on/avoiding before Xmas. I've got way too many unfinished projects, so I think I'm going to focus on that for a while before I start on a new needlepoint. It would be nice to have a new picture in the living room though ... My apologies if multiple messages are showing in your reader. I'm posting on google and it keeps giving me a message that my message has not been sent, although apparently it has gone through. Dora

Me too. Hopefully this will give me the incentive to actually dig into the closet and find the UFO's lurking in the dust.

Me too. ;) I'm like a kid in a candy store when it comes to any kind of needlework. I see the picture and think "Oooo, I have to have that!". And it joins the rest of my W.I.P.s that I've worked on util the next awesome picture comes along. And you KNOW if you don't buy it when you see it, it won't be there the next time and you'll kick yourself for not picking it up when you first saw it. lol

Well, I've been *pretty* good this year about finishing what I started. However, I ran out of thread on two, so they are still sitting there waiting. Just got the extra Lagoon for the BOAF Spring (two of four pages done), so it's going back to the top. The Frosty Rays is still on order for my Nancy Coffelt Santa Penguins - but all that's left there is the background, so won't take too long.

AND I got most of the threads for my two Laura Perins - Mardi Gras and Starry Nights! I've told myself I work on BOAF first, before I allow myself to work on either. . .

Finally, I started Stoney Creek's Noah's Sub. Why, I haven't the foggiest idea. So far, I have about 1,000 stitches in - only 69,000 or so to go! I suspect this will be showing up on my WIP list for a loooong time. . . .

At least I did finish my Santa on the flamingo picture! Something got done!

I know the feeling and I have the same problem.Too many great projects, and not nearly enough time. However, I did finish one UFO as soon as I finished the Christmas things I had to do. I had started a map of the solar system for DS, about a year ago, but found it difficult to work on at night until I got my little clip-on daylight lamp. Then suddenly the pace picked up, and it's finally done. He's thrilled, and I'm relieved, because now I can get on with the anniversary sampler I had started for my parents, and also start a second project for DD.
