Evangeline, MLI style

Reason I am not doing this is basically wall-space. I have decided to just move them as I want. They could be all four up at the same time, in a diamond shape, maybe; alternatively I might just put up the current season. That gives variety!

Recently a friend of mine painted something for me and he came to install it and it was such a big fussy project getting that right. I think he was more fussy about it than I could ever be! LOL

Florida is almost 700 miles long, so in northern Florida it is not tropical because the tropics do not get hard frosts.

Did you paint the walls a soothing ocean blue? For some reason I can almost see that in my head...

It had all been painted just before I bought it, so I left it. It's a sort of light cream, verging on yellow. Except for my bedroom (Wedgewood Blue) yellow in varying shades is the colour du jour. When I replaced the kitchen, I repainted all white, with white cupboards, chrome handles and black counters and sink. My daughters both exclaimed about the back to white and black move lol

How did they differ? How were they similar? We bought our house from artists and all the walls are painted very vibrant (almost painfully so) colors. I noticed when we toured the house with their possessions they had lots of artwork on the walls- most of it very vibrant (but I don't know if it was their own art or collected other works). I did notice that they had a large abstract painting of male and female nudes over the fireplace in my communist red bedroom (aka the womb). It definitely gave the impression that this space was not meant so much for rest, but more for love. Hubby and I try to do it justice from time to time :)

I can see your kitchen right now!! In fact I commented to Jim when we left, that it looked just super.

Why thank you ma'am. I think black and white usually looks smart, or modern or something. The girls just felt that the last house being mostly black and white, it was a backward move lol Daughters like to criticize I find, but then again I say things to daughters I would never say to a DIL lol

I hope you don`t mind that i asked this ? ,,, changing the pics according to season , is a nice idea. I also have seen , and liked a series like this hanging in the stair case , Giving it the added feeling of movement from season to season as one walks on the stairs .

I have visited some artists whose art is very colorful and loaded with figures , while their house was functional and easy to clean , almost like a labratory. Others who had an Immaculate studio , had houses piled with objects and art and materials all collecting dust. Many have a studio near or connected to the house , in which case sometimes the studio flows into the house. Some artists Show their own art al over the house , some Don`t show much maybe a piece or two. I can`t recall many artis who put a big stress on the wall colors like you describe,,, the tendency here is white or very light walls, Displayed Art is either hanging on nails /hooks or put on shelves, [ mostly wooden shelves/ book shelves in the house and industrial metal , or Found second hand old shelves in the studios.. the differences i reffered to were mainly in Style in Atmoshere , in mood , in the organization ,,,I have seen a red bedroom with a nude ,,, in the 60s in a Diplomat`s house in Geneva Switerland, They were my father`s friends, they used the redwall coloring to hide the fact they were Poor. Another red wall i saw was several years ago in a Gallery in Brussele showing Pictures of RUBENS . [lent from Austria ro be cleaned and restored in Brussele. mirjam

To tell you thetruth , any decorator will Faint in my house , than either run for his life , or advice us to throw it all out ,,, never had a decorator or any `decorative decision`, our furniture and things just grew and flowed with our life. We married with almost nothing , most years always have to do with inovative ideas

A friend of mine did that with some hooked pictures she did. And it was very effective. When she moved to a place which was all on one level she put them in the hall with similar effect. ruby

I do this a LOT. For some reason my eye just goes to seasonal designs, and I really like the way they allow me to change my decor and "feel" of my house.

I don't mind at all. All suggestions are gratefully received. I don't have a staircase, otherwise I would do as you suggested. In fact my daughter has a large house (she needs to, they have three kids), and I stitched three North Carolina lighthouse pictures for them. She has these on the wall, as you go upstairs, and it looks very nice. In fact she has more of my stitching on display in her house than I do!! LOL.
