I made my turkey soup from the carcass and now the soup itself has been consumed.

Mint is ok for dental floss and chewing gum. I certainly do not want it infecting my chocolate. Unfortunately I'm the only one in the house who feels that way.
I'll take anything alcoholic in my hot chocolate after tonight it done!
It sounds like you need a husband sitter and some time for yourself. I remember once packing a hobo type bag (you know, a scarf on a stick) for mine and telling him to go home to his father for more TLC than I could give. When he stopped laughing, he acted more like an adult for a little while and gave me a chance to regroup.
When you have the hot chocolate with the peppermint, take a big sip for me. It sounds scrumptious.

You, you, ... I'm jealous. Going away meant no stock to be made. Although I do have about 53 qts of stock in the freezer right now. Obviously this week I'll have to cook a belated at home turkey dinner so that DH can have turkey sandwhiches and then I can make new stock.

I'm happy that everyone is making soup - but hopefully not from the carcase
- all I could think of was oil in a crankcase. I'm hoping it was just a typo on carcass...

Well, you could add some vodka, chill it and have a chocolate martini. Or, try some chambord in it - very yummy - even better than with Grand Marnier or Cointrau.

A woman after my own heart! That is *certainly* much better than schnapps *or* mint!

WE had mine tonight. I added a "pricked" jalapeno to the broth, scallions, corn, cauliflower bits, peas, carrots, some leftover bagged slaw and whatever else I could find. Jim isn't supposed to have carbs, so putting the shredded cabbage in gives the appearance of pasta. I did cheat, and add a 1/4 cup of orzo, but it was a big pot of soup.
With it we had a big salad, and some frozen cooked shrimp, with carb-free sauce. Yummy!

Why do you have 53 quarts of broth/stock in the freezer? Do you need my soup "recipes"? I have decent "kosher" hot and sour. (turkey for the pork)
Cheryl
Huh? pricked
Oh I like that idea - I just might steam some cabbage to add today! (and listen DH complain about the smell)
Cheryl
It was a large jalapeno, so I stabbed it all over with a fork, and popped it in the broth whole. After it tasted spicy enough, I removed it! No hot pepper stuff on my fingers that way!

LOL - Because I typo'd - it was supposed to be 5-3 quarts and I left off the - . That would be a lot of soup - even for us. I do also have a quart of Posole (made with chicken not lamb).. I think there is an entire shelf of soup/stock in the freezer. Plus, I must confess - I found Pacific Farms Organic Chicken Stock at the Costco - in a 6-pack. It's very good - better than using chicken base starter (semi-boullion stuff) - and a really good price at the Costco - so I also have a couple of containers of that for emergencies. Not much salt in it, even in the regular vs low-sodium one - and it has good flavor.
I'm about to go on a soup binge - promised DH. So, I'm going to make barley mushroom soup tonight for dinner. Last night - homemade meatballs and sphagetti. Since DH has leftover spaghetti & meatballs with him for lunch, figure I can do the soup/salad and get some fresh bread for dinner tonight.
Ellice - still laughing at typing 53 qts of soup
Good idea. From all the time in NM I've gotten a bit more creative with using all kinds of peppers. When I find nice fresh ones, I actually do roast them and peel the skin off. You can do it either in the oven - a bunch on the grate - or if you have a gas stove, and tongs/skewer - you let it blister over the flame . I do this if just doing one - works great with Anaheims/ Poblanos - bigger chili peppers. Then you just pull the blistered outer skin right off (the blackened part). Gives a nice roasty flavor to things.
I just know that I'm making green chile stew soon. Just got to find the chiles.

I don't know, Joan, cinnammon schnapps can be mighty tasty. Several years ago, our first Christmas with younger sister's soon to be DH, my three sisters and I shared a bottle of gold flecked cinnamon schnapps. It was the first time in a couple of years that the four of us had been together and the first time since our mother had passed away that we had celebrated Christmas all together. The other DH's were watching TV & visiting with us. The kids were all snuggled close in their beds and the DH to be was working an 8 PM to an 8 AM shift (a police officer). We used little tiny glasses - not a shot glass, but a "nice" glass - and just kept passing it around the table, taking turns with the schnapps. ;-)) I'm sure we had snacks & goodies to eat at the same time, I don't remember that part. When Bud stopped at home during his
2 AM lunch break, he went upstairs & said: "Peggy, the schnapps bottle is EMPTY!" She smiled at him and replied: "We shared it" and went back to sleep. :-)) I have no clue what anyone got or gave as gifts that year, but the sharing of the cinnamon schnapps stands out as a highlight. :-) Liz from Humbug
Ah - clever! C
I'll get it eventually!
