Hand stitched boxes

My daughter has just started making handstitched boxes, after our latest Craft Guild working evening at our home - our friend Cynthia has really started something!

Anyway, I found this super book with loads of ideas and instructions and thought some of you might be interested - just click on this link (sorry it`s such a long one, but it will give you a picture of the book).

Further to my first post - there are several of them for sale on Ebay right now - in America, that is.

These are so pretty. In 2005, "Just CrossStitch" magazine had a series on a small needlework box done up with pulled and drawn threadwork and different specialty stitches. It's in my *to-do* wish list.

I`m very lucky that Jane loves doing the same things that I loved to do when I had both hands working - so I only have to put it in her mind, and she`s off! At least I can help out with embroidery to a certain extent. Poor John is swamped with stuff that needs framing, from both of us, at the moment!

Mozilla and Firefox have addons that enable you to morph a loooooooong address that you want to add to your bookmarks. I'm 50% sure that this capability might not work when you want to share looooooooooooooooooong web addresses with others. Here's a link to the site that will convert humongous URL's to shorter ones that can be shared:

tinyurl is OK but does not warn the user where s/he is "going" whereas if you use it will. It is simple to use:

1 - Open in your browser. 2 - Type the long webpage address into the box above the label "Make a shorter link!" 3 - Click on the label "Make a shorter linke!" 4 - The webpage changes to show the message "Key created: Your Make A Shorter Link key has been created. Your shorter link is: xxx 5 - Just cut or copy the shorter link. Anyone using the shorter link is told of the ultimate destination thus giving them the chance to abandon the task.

See - Bruce is an asset - I think we`d better make him an honorary stitcher. Anyway, we may even brainwash him in time! Maybe Jim can help.
