I heard something about how the plastic storage boxes my fabric is stored in releases fumes that eat the fabric. Urban legend started by husbands or what? What time measure does it take for my fabric to be harmed?

Well done, Kathy, nice try!
That's the problem. I try, but I don't succeed. :)
Most of my fabric has been in plastic bags and boxes for years and has never come to any harm. Keeps the dust and moths out, too!
....not to mention the new puppy that likes to grab and run with any piece of fabric within his reach! Gads, I will be so glad when he doesn't fit under the bed any more, my knees are taking a beating from trying to extract him from under beds!
On a more serious note, I keep everything in clear plastic tubs too. Easy to see, easy to label, easy to sort. I'm in them enough to keep the air fresh and I don't keep any near direct sunlight.
Thanks to all of you! Yes, that was quite a slick offer to check my stash for signs of age or deterioration, but I just told my husband that if my stash does erode, I have to replace it with new fabric. That shut him up.
WOW - who knew? I could have used you to help me pack for my recent vacation!
Well, part of my job is handling pallets of freight. I think I could cope. :)
Plastic boxes deteriorating my fabric??!!
