Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas & will have a perfect new year. Life's been a roller coaster at this end of the world, and new year's plans for me start with the word ORGANIZE!! lol I seem to have lost that ability over the past 6 months or so, but looking forward to it with a vengeance. Also looking forward to returning here at least 3 times per week to get my normal supply of needleworking talk!

What is everyone planning for this new year? New projects? Finishing W.I.P.s? Or taking on new needlworking skills? I can honestly answer YES to all of the above. lol

It's looking like 2007 will have to be another Year of the UFO. However, I do have everything I need to start a few new projects, including models of some of my own designs, and a different colorway for Effervescent Designs.

also had a nice, if quiet, Christmas. I got to talk to all three ofmy sisters and two of the nieces, which was wonderful. I'm working onthinking positive about being laid off in April. There may be anothertax measure on the May 15 ballot which, if it passes, would at leastkeep the libraries open, if not save all of our jobs. We know thatthis county will not tolerate more than a temporary closure of itslibrary system, but many of them thought that the county was bluffingand would "find" the money somewhere. We know where the money is, itis in Iraq and (should be, anyway) in the areas hit by Katrina. Thereis still some kind of rural schools bill in Congress, which could alsohelp our county if it manages to pass. If nothing else, I am seriouslyanticipating having ALL SATURDAYS OFF! ! ! to attend all of the EGAmeetings, some stitch ins and all of the hikes scheduled for this year. There is a silver lining to almost every situation. That's my story &I'm sticking to it! :-) Stitching/Crocheting wise, what I would LIKE to do is to finish the Harley/Rotty/Cop project for my BIL, start and finish the Cala Lilly from Merrey Designs and find the $60 somewhere to buy some nice yarn from the local LNS to make an afghan for the local school to auction for next year's art/science classes after school. It is the Lacy Blocks pattern from the Quick and Cozy Afghans book published by Oxmoor House. I made one for my sister several years ago and loved how it turned out. I would also like to stitch a bunch of ornaments for this year's late Christmas gifts, as well as finishing up the individual correspondence class that my EGA group paid for me to take on teaching embroidery to children. In fact, one thing I would love to do in April, between lay off and new job is to teach that first class to a local home schooler. It's taken me forever since the project has to be one that interprets the child's drawing in needleworl. I didn't want to take the time or money to frame other people's work, so I finally decided to have her stitch on a flour sack type dish towel. That way, she can easily do various types of surface embroidery stitches AND the finished project can be displayed without framing rather than being stuffed in a drawer because mom doesn't know what to do with it. :-)))))

Me too. I have several projects which I could probably finish next year if I don't start anything new. I want to start buying materials towards a couple of Beth Russell rugs though not with the intention of starting them next year. I'd like to make a few smaller projects to experiment with various embroidery techniques, mostly using my stash of silks, ribbons, and thread.

Oh, absolutely!

For those of you who weren't party to our off-list discussion, I'm stitching Effervescent's "Les Tuileries" on a medium blue fabric with something white. I have here DMC Rayon, DMC Light Effects, and Kreinik braid, and will experiment to see which one or more of them do it for me.

Well, adding on some best wishes for all to have happy and healthy new years.

Yes - that would be it. And to finish one of the "outing" projects before our next get together in the DC area! And get everything that has to be mailed out - sent. And to get the new house finally unpacked after the builders finally finsih their catch up, and repair. That's the biggie - getting painted, unpacked - really moved in. That would be nice.

4 immediate stitchin' goals - finish the Summer Garden (which is just needing some beading, and to be "finished" as a bell pull - due to the incredibly horrible back). Then, finish the spot sampler "welcome" for the house, and the Blackbird Designs sampler that I'm halfway thru which was for friends wedding - but they'll get for their first anniversary (hey, I have til May). Oh, and to finish the Indigo Rose True Love Sampler for DH for our anniversary in July.

But, of course, I will be starting some new project as soon as Summer Garden is done. The plan is as I finish each to add a new one in it's place. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Oh, and on the NP front - I plan to finish one of my projects. And hope to start DH's stocking (again) by the summer.

OK - now I'm tired.
