I hate Over-Two!

Took a break from the piles of transcripts that I had to get out this weekend (stuff I didn't get till Wednesday night that they need back Sunday and/or Monday) to work on a group project that requires working over-two.

I swear, if this didn't have to match everyone else's stitching, I would rip it out and do it over-one. Because of a visual defect, that vertical thread doesn't leap out at me as everyone describes. I really have to stare at each intersection to identify which is the vertical.

I hate hate HATE over-two. Give me over-one any day. Without magnification.

I am going to tear my hair out over this project.

I do hear you. And the whole theory holds no water in the first place (apart from easily* being able to tell if not in the correct place for the stitch). So I've given up caring where the vertical is.

I can't always find that vertical thread either, but I do love stitching over two. I just stitch a bit slower when I can't figure out that "natural" square of four holes.

Well, my good friend Ted Turner took some of the pain out of today's stitching session by allowing me to watch Gone With the Wind while I worked on it.

I may have to toss GWTW in the DVD the rest of the week so I can tolerate the rest of the project.

I used to hate over 2 in the beginning -- but once you get the hang of it -- and of course i rather stitch on linen (guess call me spoiled) -- but once you do get the hang of it or the needle does lol -- it seems to fall into the right hole -- i have never heard about vertical standing out -- when i get in little tougher situations i just "click" my needle up 2 threads and "click" it over 2 threads -- i guess i am visually impaired too to see this --

and i am so spoiled about stitching with linen that when i buy a kit -- i change the fabric to linen from the aida -- have been doing this for years -- of course there are exceptions where i will keep the aida -- especially if it is an odd color i cant find in linen or if it has a utility purpose since cotton has longer wear -- or if the design calls for a special fabric like those hearts on my webshots -- i think they are 11 ct burlap type or something or other -- i changed the fabrics slightly to accent the colors more and of course whatever was on clearance or a good sale lol -- fortunately a better match was clearanced on 3 of them -- the first one i took as a class and got the "kit"

yes i am linen spoiled -- i just dread starting to work with silk -- since i KNOW i will probably like that better -- i do have a couple of silk on linen kits ready in the wings --

and as for stash on hand ... well lets just say my apt is 3/4 stash and

1/4 living -- if i were to get rid of all my stitching hobbies i would have a bare apt -- i have 3 - 7 ft tall by 4 ft wide shelves in the bedroom with fabric on them -- one hall closet with nothing but crafting supplies in it -- and half the livingroom/dining room full of sewing and stitching things --

and this is after i have been working on decluttering and stitching my way to a clean abode -- yes i used to be a packrat extroidinaire and have since reliquished the crown and have now reached princess status and hopefully by the new year i will have everything "settled" as it has been a long process of decluttering and organizing and stitching and gifting things i will never use --

i also have all the DMC floss colors -- i like to keep 2 of each on hand -- so will hit joanns when there is a real good sale to replenish

-- oh and i have more scissors that i can count -- sometimes i pick up a UFO and find a favorite scissor that i forgot i had in the project and think oh that s where that went --

just lately (well the last few months) i have felt just "blah" and not really stitching much -- guess i need to start making stitching dates with friends -- when its an appt i seem to do better

Jim -- hope you re feeling better

Joan -- the back clearance room is the stitching room -- they teach classes in there on monday nites and some saturdays -- or they used to

-- and anyone can sit back there and stitch

well today is a lazy day for me -- it is cold and we re in for some nasty weather coming our way starting tmw -- so i have been rewarding myself with bits of stitching while i am cleaning my apt -- it has been neglected for a while -- seems like the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activities and events -- so today is a me (mostly) day -- tmw after work i am going to curl up on the couch - drop a dvd in - and start stitching -- i have a couple of projects just about "done" -- well done as in finished stitching but framing will have to come later after the holidays -- so today i will be working on either/or both the millenium sampler and the welcome be our guest -- oh and the dvd of choice will be the harry potter series or LOTR -- i dont have GWTW dvd

-- and do you have a link that i can see what that project looks like? it does sound very interesting
