Sounds to me like they put the floss card for Kit 123 in with Kit 1233.

Does the floss (total selection) even look like it's the right colors (i.e., is it supposed to include a lot of pink and actually has no pink but a ton of blue?) If the right colors appear to be there, maybe they just got into the wrong holes on the floss card.

Ah, well, now we know why it was on clearance!

I had one like that - get in touch with them - they`ll send a replacement chart by return! They are really excellent at customer service, in my experience.

------ I recently started the counted cross stitch entitled "Garden Bounty", which on your web site is cataloged as # 3234. I bought this as a complete kit (chart, instructions, diagram, floss and 28 count even-weave fabric), it has the Lanarte name on it.

The # near the bar code of the package I have is #115800. This number is also on the chart and the floss guide/diagram. However, the pre-sorted floss card is marked #610100A. The floss card has 28 different colors, but the guide/diagram only lists 24.

But that's not the only problem.

On the chart there are a number of symbols that I cannot find on the guide/diagram, and there are symbols on the guide/diagram that are not on the chart. Of the symbols that ARE on both the chart and the guide/diagram, only ONE that I found is the right color (white), the others do not come out correct, according to the picture (i.e., if the symbol says use whole # 11, on the floss card that is pale blue, but on the picture it shows dark grey).

The package did not appear to have been opened, until I did so myself.

When I bought this back in May, it was on clearance at the local hobby store (Michael's), I do not have the receipt or I would return it.

Is there a way that I could send the kit back to your company, in exchange for a kit with the correct markings and/or parts?

Actually, the colors look to be correct . At least, to my eyes, the colors match what is in the completed-project picture on the front of the package.

The floss *could* have been put into the wrong holes in the sorting card, but without a guide that has symbols that match up with the chart, I can't correct it. The guide seems to have hand-drawn symbols on it, while the chart has what appear to be computer-generated symbols (like something from Pattern Maker).

I guess I could go through and meticulously figure out what symbols = what color by comparing the chart to the photo, and create my own guide, but I'm going to wait until I hear back from them before I attempt to tackle *that* project.

I've had a terrible problem with some Dimension needlepoint kits, which is unfortunate because they were beautiful kits. I normally do needlepoint patterns that are not pre-printed, but these were so pretty. I wanted to do some of their Asian-themed pre-printed needlepoint patterns. The colors were there, but where it was directed I would have 10 strands of one color, there were 15, which matched the quantity of another color listed, and so on. There was no symbol chart for the background, per se. It was just a diagram of the approximate color combinations with a detail of the backstitching. It was not even gridded out to the canvas, so you had to plot out the correct placement of the stitches. Yes, the backstitching detail was preprinted on the canvas, but (as it is with anything preprinted on canvas) lines were blurred and did not match up uniformly.

I walked away rather unhappy and skittish about doing any further projects like this. Is this a problem with Dimension, the whole pre-printed needlepoint kit scene, or something unique?

I've had trouble with kits other than Dimension. My rule of thumb now is to purchase a ton of the background color, where they usually short ya. I posted here a while ago about calling Bucilla and after a long wait, they sent me one stinking strand of a particular color. I managed to blend in some similar shade and got by that way. It just wasn't worth the hassle of contacting and begging for more.

Now you know why so many of us hate kits! Even if I DO weaken and buy one I usually use my own threads and use up the "Kit" threads on things that don`t really matter - like bookmarks, cards etc. It`s such a pain sorting the threads if they aren`t presorted. Life`s too short - particularly when you`re 70!!!

I've not yet run into any problem(s) with any Dimension kits (yet - knock wood) that I haven't created myself - the one I just finished I messed up a couple of colors and had to re-do them, and didn't have enough, so I bought DMC equivalent and fixed it up nicely!

Just got a reply, seems that the "printer" messed up and the wrong color key was inserted with the Garden Bounty kit - *HOWEVER*, Leisure Arts sold the kit division to Janlynn, and I should contact them for a replacement/correct color key.

Here's hoping that you get a response soon. When I had a store, I had to contact Janlynn several times for myself and for customers and always found them to be very responsive. I hope that's still true!

The sad part is that, not know how long it would be until I hear back from/receive the required information, I have started a different project - an assortment of mini-stockings (about 4 inches each) to be used as ornaments/decorations.
