merklap anno 1808 If anyone has seen it and knows where it may be obtained -or if anyone actually HAS it and would like to sell/trade, I would be most appreciative.

According to the auction, this is from an old Dutch magazine. Looking at the image from the article, it appears that the author of the article and the stitcher are Henriette Beukers. I did a Google for that name and found that she has written a few books on needlework. Not sure in what language.

--Charlene

She wrote mainly in Dutch about all kinds of textile work: knititng, cross-stitch, carpetmaking etc. Her books on cross-stitch seem to concern Holland in cross-stitch (I bought it recently, but haven't received it yet) and a more general handbook om cross-stitching. I think this design (de spaanse merklap) is veeery hard to get. I cannot see from which magazine it is... so you'll most probably must count on your luck... or on a kind spirit who is willing to copy it or sell it to you.

Regards, Alma (Dutch in Poland, surrounded by loads of mourning people)
