Have a look at

formatting link
- and please don`t use HTML text on newsgroups - they can`t all read it. Make sure you post in Plain Text. If you use O.E., go to "Format" to change it. Thanks. Pat P

This is really stupid! You must be able to see how other posts are written. They are not written in all caps, THAT IS INDEED YELLING.

I am beginning to wonder if you are a new incarnation of the budgerigar because I didn't know comcast.net operated in Germany. Can be corrected on that but I thought it is a US server.

Anyway, I can't be bothered anymore, it's not often I killfile, but I am making an exception in your case.

This is just silly, all caps *is* yelling, nobody ever said to use all caps.

This is how your post should have looked, please follow this example:

"I would like to thank everyone for the help. I did go to

and got them. I am doing the three roses in one piece. They will be framed in a 18th rose frame for England. It is a nice frame measuring 16 in by 18 in. I should work for the piece. Still getting used to yelling."

I left in a couple of the typoes...just because I wasn't entirely sure which word you intended to use.

I am not trying to make fun of you, so please don't assume that is the case. I'm just trying to show you what we meant by caps.

I feel a bit sorry for her if she`s NOT a troll. We`ve actually tried to help her, and I should think she`s pretty young! Still. you obviously just can`t help some people.

Hi faerydragon!

Here's another example of what people are trying to get across: "I WANT TO THANK BETTY JEAN 4 HELPING ME 2DAY" *This* is yelling.

"i want to thank betty jean 4 helping me 2day" This is common instant messaging speech, which we would *prefer* not to see (obviously we can't actually control your fingers, much as some of us would like to! :) ). I don't know how old you are but I think most of us grew up with proper instruction in sentence structure. I really cringe at what our youngsters today are learning with the IM 'speech'!

"I want to thank Betty Jean for helping me today." This is correct 'speech'. Notice the capitalization of proper nouns (I, Betty, Jean) and the written form of 'for' and 'today'.

Oh, and your last sentence should be "Still getting *used* to yelling" :)

HTH (acronyms can be all caps without it considered yelling)

I don't care at all if someone says "ur gr8" or "2day", and I am old enough. After all, people here put up with my typing "colour" and I put up with "invite" as a noun. That is just personal preference. And is 2day really that different from LOL or IMHO, shortcuts people here already use??? I do care if someone posts in all caps in bright red, as this one turned up on my newsreader. That is about usenet protocol. We cannot make everyone do everything the way we like, (more's the pity, more's the pity. Chorus of "If I ruled the world") Dawne

I don't care much for the text message abbreviated language. Sure on a cell phone it's faster and makes sense, but in a chat room or bulletin board I find it to be terribly inconvenient to read.

Anything that forces me stop dead while reading to try to decipher it becomes not worth my time. At a computer keyboard, it's faster to type today than 2day, numbers being a bigger reach. I suppose if one hunts & pecks it doesn't make much of a difference, but to a touch typist not touching the number keys makes things much faster. And easier for others to read to boot.

Point taken. I guess I (obviously) wasn't considering that as an acronym of sorts. :) I, personally, don't like the "ur" for "you are" types of shortcuts, though.

Agreed. Although mine only comes in one font, size & color.

LOL!

I`m not (Obviously!!!) a touch typist, and look at my keyboard a lot (not all the time, but enough!) and I too, find it quicker to type the words in full rather than the "with it" abbreviations so loved by cell phone texters! As you say - when you have to stop and decipher you just can`t be bothered!
