Map update

Hi Everyone-

I *think* I've updated our map w/the folks who've replied since

12/29/07. If I missed anyone (or if any of you lurkers want 'in'), please let me know and you'll be added. Here's the link again, both a tinyurl and the entire link.

Well done, there seems to be a pause right now. It is curious that SA would be empty, I know plenty of SA groups exist so I think it is most likely a language barrier.

DH's cousin has relatives down in Bolivia - he reports a lack of English speakers, thus helping him, a Bolivian native and trilingual, to earn a living.

Yes, it is more likely they would join Spanish or Portuguese speaking groups.

It's also odd that I'm the only one in Africa - the whole of it! Language may be a small problem, but English is an important language in most African countries, and the main one in South Africa now. We have 11 official languages, but English bridges them, and is the connection to the rest of the world.

Want me to move there to fix the deficiency? Now that my employment is entirely portable, that's not a problem!

Where would you go? The cousin and an other frequent traveler we know tell some scary stories about various cities.

I'd really love to have some company, though. DD Cathy does read some groups, but has not enough time for this as well. I speak to her, anyway, and would like to find some other people with the same interests.

thanks the map was great to look at.

I wonder if part of the problem with not as many non-North Americans joining the group is that they don't know about newsgroups. My younger sister who is very computer savvy did not know what a newsgroup was until I showed her. I think because they are something that was created in the "olden days of computers/internet and text based" a lot of modern users haven't bothered with them. Who remembers the old message boards back in the late 80's as the internet developed??. My kids can't comprehend the web without pictures etc.
