The thread on what we are stitching makes me want to dig into my floss boxes, but right now I'm having trouble finding things - I still can't find the ornament I was working on before we moved on Dec. 1.
The move to the new house went fairly smoothly, especially since we are about 120 miles farther east. The movers arrived on Friday to load, and delivered to the new house on Saturday. We came down with sleeping bags and air mattresses and slept on the floor Friday night.
Monday evening I went back to the city to stay with friends for the week and go to work. I came home on the weekends.
The house itself is just loverly. It's a roughly 1500 sq ft bungalow with a full basement. Since it's on a sloping lot, we have a walkout from the basement which the DH loves since he will be able to store the bikes in the basement during the winter. We specifically choose this model since it can be made wheelchair accessible if (or when) it ever become necessary. We also choose hardwood in most of the areas which would have been carpeted (allergies and asthma prevention).
This is the first time we've bought a new house, and it was really, really neat being able to chose my own colours, and make changes to the plans to make the house more convenient for us. Things like pocket doors and pot drawers in the kitchen, and a walk-in shower in the master bedroom en suite bath.

We are still trying to get used to being retired. It hasn't really sunk in yet, especially for me. The College is always closed for a week at Christmas, so maybe Wednesday morning when everyone else is going back to work, and I'm having my first cup of coffee, I may actually begin to believe it.
Bob is getting set up at the new shop to work on the old beemers and is really looking forward to it. No more computer controlled crap.
We are still getting used to small town life, but it is really great. Picton has full facilities (hospital, banks, grocery stores, etc), plus lots of neat specialty shops, wineries, and restaurants. There is a needlework shop on Main Street which I haven't had a chance to visit yet, plus another one about a hour away in Brighton. I'm going to have to cut my attendance at guild meetings to once a month since it's 2 1/2 hours travel. I've been told there are a couple of local groups which I will have to find where and when they meet.
We've met a number of our neighbours, and it's a very quiet neighbourhood - lots of folks walking dogs (and cats), and the deer wander through our front yard on a regular basis. It's a traffic jam when you see more than three cars an hour on our street.
Well, I better get back to sorting out my cupboards and locating things. Maybe I can do some stitching later today.
