needlework lights

I know this has been discussed in this newsgroup many times before; but I am now seriously considering buying a special needlework table lamp and can't decide between the Ott Light and the Ultimate Daylight Lamp. Can anyone tell me which they prefer and why?

I wish either would help me. However, I'm looking into a lamp that uses LEDs. You'd be surprised at how bright these can be and the contrast they can provide (a good thing to have when stitching.) I don't have a lamp of that type yet, but do have LED flashlights. batteries last longer and there's no heat to get to you. And the bulbs last a loooong time.

of course, if you specifically need magnification in the lamp, i'm probably barking up the wrong tree here. Plus, the "spread" from LEDs is probably not as wide as fluorescents but I'm not certain about that. So it may not be suitable if you're stiching with a large piece on a frame. I can't use fluorescents though and incandescents can cause me problems. I've seen what look to be good LED lamps for about $60-$80.
