I have written to Trish, asking about the weather, but have not had a reply.
Trish has been having e-mail problems for some time.
I'll call her tomorrow morning via Skype. And then post here. She is so frustrated at her Internet connection right now. Bobbie V.
Too bad you can't come to the dealership while you call and I can say HI too.

Just rang Trish to see how things were. The Wallsend shops have just about been washed away, but the Brown house is on higher ground, so even though the place is extremely wet, the house itself is not flooded. Trish was very grateful that people are asking after her. She is still having ISP issues, hence her inability to reply personally.
Thank you, Pat, for starting the thread.
John (in Brisbane)
Wonderful news, John. Thank you for reporting in. Btw, some of the areas which were flooded here during Katrina almost two years ago still have not been rebuilt, so Newcastle will need our prayers and help for quite a while.

Thanks, John!
I call Trish via Skype. They are all doing fine. The backyard has been a washed and because of the devastation in town they have to go farther to get bread, milk and the essentials. They still have power, but I got several busy signals trying to dial her during this morning before I was able to reach her. Trish was unaware that her phone service was acting up as she was not on the line and at one point our phone conversation was interrupted or dropped. She said that she and hers are all well and Trish Thanks everyone for their concern. The shops in Wallsend itself have suffered greatly from the storm. Sounded a bit like our spring flooding this year.

Thanks for letting us know, Bobbie! It's a relief to hear they're okay.
What's with the weird weather, anyway? First the drought and fires and now floods?
Joan
We do tend towards extreme weather conditions in this country. Despite the severe rains in the south-east of Australia, here in Brisbane we're still in major drought. OK, we had heavy rain last Wednesday, a bit of the edge of the southern weather pattern, but what we got will only delay the next level of water restrictions by a very short time. There's some hope that the weather patterns might be changing, with a return to a normal wet season next summer, but this has been said many times over the last few years, with no result. The rain we got last week had only a minuscule effect on the dam levels.
John
I don't know how weird it is; I think we are coming out a quiet time for the weather and now it is business as usual.
